LIGHT, LOVE, LIFE

Suggested Reading: 1 John 1-3

One of the ancient roads in Ephesus. John, author of today 's reading, would have walked this street as the Apostle serving the church of Ephesus and the other churches, as recorded in Revelation chapters 2 and 3. Perhaps on this public place he preached the Gospel of Light, Love, and Life in Jesus Christ.

Key Verse: 1 John 3:2

Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is.

Eight times in the first two chapters, John gives reasons as to his purpose in writing this letter to all of us. (1) Joy (2) Stop sinning (3) Love one another (4) Children (5) Fathers (6) Young men (7) God’s will (8) Truth vs. lies. These are all practical instructions so that “We may have confidence and not be ashamed before Him at His coming” (1 John 2:28b). John describes the essence or nature of God’s Being in three ways. Firstly, LIGHT – No darkness in Him (1:5). Secondly, LOVE – “He who does not love does not know God” (4:8). And thirdly, LIFE – “He who has the Son has life” (5:12a).

PRAYER FOR TODAY:

Lord God, thank You for the promise that I “shall be like Him” when I “see Him as He is!” I pray that as I move toward that blessed time, I will grow more and more into Your likeness as I “walk in the light” of Your Word daily! I ask this in the Name of the One Who declared, “I am the Light of the world,” Jesus Christ Himself! Amen!!!

100 PERSONAL WORDS:

Last evening Norma-Jean, her brother Glen Rutledge and I sat together in a great Sunday evening service at the Victory Church here in Lakeland, Florida. Pastor Blackburn read from the Scriptures the story of the nobleman from Capernaum who travelled to Cana, where Jesus had turned the water into wine, in order to ask Jesus to heal his son who was at “the point of death.” When this father returned, making the 15-mile journey back home, he discovered that his son was well. John wrote in his Gospel these words: “So the father knew that it was at the same hour in which Jesus said to him, ‘your son lives.’ And he himself believed and his whole household” (Read John 4:46-54). At the close of his message, our Pastor invited anyone who needed Jesus to heal them to come forward for prayer. I believe that my health began to be restored at that church altar on a Sunday evening last October. Now I’m full of energy, and I believe I am healed of the condition that I was told would take my life. So I went up again to the altar to pray with others. For more than an hour we just basked in the presence of Jesus. No one wanted to go home. God only knows what He accomplished in people’s lives. One thing I do know, Jesus was very present! He promised that “Where two or three are gathered in My Name, there I am in the midst of them.” John’s Gospel and his three letters we have in our Bibles are all about Jesus!!!

Yours with our hearts and minds on the Person of the Lord Jesus Christ!

David

  1. Praise God for your healing David, and those whom were present at the alter last evening!! As Jesus said, some ask for signs and wonders to believe, but we need only believe and miracles can happen, as was for the son of the grieving father. 1John3:1(a) “Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God!” May our Lord ease the pangs of anxiety for those in the diagnostic phase of treatment and provide strength, healing and restoration in Jesus’ Name, Amen!

Thanks for your ministry. Have met you a few times. Lost my husband Dec. 24th to cancer. Would you please pray for a friend, Brian, in BC with such severe migraine headaches that he is confined to his bed. A young man with two little girls. Has been suffering for several years.

    • God bless you dear one. Brian try a gluten free diet. One of my Daughters – in – Love have severe migraine headaches when she goes off gluten free diet..It works for her, and it works for joint pain too. Jesus you are the Mighty Physician. 8. Thankful that you are healed David. I confess the sin of coveting! I envey you to have had the opportunity to be in the Presence of God with like-minded folk! I do plan to be at a Morris Cerullo meeting next month in Mississauga, Lord willing.
I uphold all those on this blog, and ther families, who need healing. God bless you all.

  9. I do wonder how the nobleman could tell the time back then. Did they have windup clocks? Or was it a sun dial and was the sun shining? In other passages that mentioned “the midnight hour”, how would they know it was midnight?

    • God bless you dear one. I don’t know for sure ,but I think they could tell by the moon and the stars. Back then they were a hole lot closer to nature than we are these days. When I was a child, I lived 50 ml. in the forest, in north Ontario, with my parents and 5 siblings. Many a night, you could tell the approximate time looking at the moon and stars. I am so blessed to now also live in a farming community, also in North Ontario, not far from my childhood home. With our nearest farm 1ml. away, and on a clear night with the lights off you can see the brilliant star canopy over head . It is not hard to tell the approximate time with out looking at the clock. If you are lucky you can role over and get a few more winks before the rooster starts to crow.

  10. Dear Rev. David M.
What a great priviledge to be able as sisters and brothers in Christ to turn to Our Father for healing knowing that once we are reborn we have the power of healing to offer, and this is all through the gift of Our Saviour, Our King, Our Redeemer . So Jesus let us abide in you , mould us, shape us and bring your Glory to every desperate soul until Your Return.

Keeping and sharing in my church on Wednesday night all the needs and requests of all my fellow bloggers .

    Have a blessed day everyone.
    xxxx Carole.

  11. Dear Pat. Thank you for your coment about time by nature. Sounds like a lovely place to live in N Ontario. I stayed on a farm a time or two as a child and remember the joy of being there. Thanks for your input. I hope you are weathering this long winter well.

    • God bless you dear one. I am, in no- way a computer wiz ….but If you google ” Exodus of Israel from Egypt- Revealed-Hard Evidence in Red Sea ” it will bring you to the sight. Some one else would be able to tell you other easier ways to share… but this works for me.
