HELL IS EXCITED! (ISAIAH 14:9)

Suggested Reading: Isaiah 14-16

In the Kidron Valley at the base of the Mount of Olives are several Ancient tombs. In this photo you can see the backside of the Tomb of Zechariah and in the distance the Eastern Wall of the Old City of Jerusalem. Zechariah and Isaiah both made prophecies that could only find fulfillment in Jesus, Messiah/Christ.

Key Verses: Isaiah 14:24, 27

The Lord of hosts has sworn, saying,

“Surely, as I have thought, so it shall come to pass,

And as I have purposed, so it shall stand.

…For the Lord of hosts has purposed,

And who will annul it?

His hand is stretched out,

And who will turn it back?”

When Isaiah wrote the words in chapter 14, Babylon was not yet a world power. However, Lucifer (Satan, the devil), who had deceived the original people of Babel (Genesis 11), was still their god! He is called, “The god of this age” (2 Corinthians 4:4 NKJV – other translations call him “The god of this world”). Isaiah contrasts Lucifer with the God, the Lord of hosts! Satan, filled with pride and in rebellion against Almighty God, says, “I will” five times. The Bible points us (four times) to the One called, “The God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ!” (Ephesians 1:3, Colossians 1:3, and twice in 2 Corinthians 1:3 & 11:31). The god of any religion who says, “God has no Son” (i.e. Islam), does not believe in or pray to the same God as Christians do. Jesus had the opposite approach to His Father God. He said, as He prayed before His arrest, crucifixion, and resurrection, “Father… not My will but Yours be done” (Luke 22:42). On one occasion Jesus said, “I saw Satan fall like lightening from Heaven” (Luke 10:18). Be assured that the purposes of Almighty God, the only true God, will not be thwarted. Our key verse makes that clear!!!

Chapters 15 and 16 contain Isaiah’s lament over Moab. He has some comfort for them in that a remnant will not be destroyed, possibly because of Ruth of Moab, great-grandmother of King David. The throne of David, eternally established in David’s offspring, Jesus, is a throne of “Mercy” and “Justice” (Isaiah 16:5).

PRAYER FOR TODAY:

Lord God, Your throne is forever established in Jesus, Messiah. Therefore, I (we) “Come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need” (Hebrews 4:16). I have one cry several times every day: “HELP!” I pray to God Who is “Our refuge and strength, a very present HELP in trouble!” Amen!!!

100 PERSONAL WORDS:

Daily in the news I read, hear, and see the same countries, Assyria, Babylon, Persia (known today as Syria), Iraq and Iran, as the centre of world violence, confusion, and constant war. Not much has changed. Could it be that it is because Lucifer, the god of this world, is the god to whom most of these people still bow down? How thankful I am that the founders of my country, Canada, declared Psalm 72:8 in our founding documents. It’s found in our coat of arms as our official motto. It’s engraved in stone over the entrance to the centre block of our Parliament Buildings, “He shall have dominion [Dominus – Lord] from sea to sea and from the river [St. Lawrence] to the ends of the earth” [North Pole]. That’s a geographical description of Canada. King David wrote these words about the God he served. The prophet Zechariah said the same words in Zechariah 9:10. I’ve just read from Zechariah, who, as a true prophet, speaks for the God and Father of Jesus Christ. I know it’s Jesus to whom he refers because of Zechariah 9:9-10; 12:10 through 13:1-6; 14:4-8. I’ve just read these scriptures and am very encouraged that “The Lord of hosts has sworn, saying, ‘Surely as I have thought, so it shall come to pass, and as I have purposed, so it shall stand!'”

Yours with total 100% confidence in the Word of God as communicated through Isaiah, David, Zechariah, Jesus and Paul!!!

David

P.S. In one way I’m sorry to bring this up, but here it is. The people who attack Jerusalem for the last time bring this upon themselves (read Zechariah 14:11-12). The people of Jerusalem will be safe, but what of the attackers? Back in the 1950s I worked for Atomic Energy of Canada, and I learned from government documents of the effects of close-up (a mile or so) atomic weapon explosions. Here, Zechariah could not have more accurately described the disastrous effects on the human body. As I said, I’m sorry to bring such awful news, but I believe at some future time there will be an exchange of atomic weapons in the middle east.

This is the ancient mosaic floor in the Greek Orthodox Church of Saint George, located in the ancient Moabite city of Madaba. It is the oldest map of Jerusalem and Biblical locations. Madaba is a Christian city today, located just east of Mt. Nebo in the country of Jordan. This is the area occupied by Israel before their conquest of Canaan. The Bible spelling of this name is Medeba (1 Chronicles 19: 7) and this city is also one from which Moses viewed the promised land.

  1. Thanks for today’s message, David. Definitely agree with you–after all, it is written in scripture, as you have referenced in Zechariah! Praise God for His safety over the people of Jerusalem!

Yesterday, and prior to that, I didn’t get the chance to comment on the video of Aunt Myrtle Mainse Kenny’s power prayer at the Pine Grove Church in 1985. I listened to it, over and over, and typed it out. It may not be exact as it was hard to hear in some spots, but is pretty close. Please forgive any errors. Thank you so much, David, for sharing such a precious and all-inspiring gift with us! Sure runs in the family! Here it is:

“In our Sunday school lesson about a poor soul that failed God, and he didn’t meet the requirements with that because of a raging storm like a river. Thou hast made us strong indeed, by the power of Thy might, that we can go forth. Let our light so shine that others will see our good works and glorify our Father, which is in heaven.

“Bless each and every one this morning that are here. We pray also that Thou bless the camp meeting; many of God at the camp meeting. And that there will be big crowds there and they will have a good spiritual time and God will pour out His Spirit and great good will be accomplished.

“Bless us, and as we go forth this coming week, may we have special strength that we can stand up with Jesus–stand up–stand up with Jesus! And lift up a blood stained banner and live our holy lives where others will want that same salvation we’ve got. For the Bible calls us–thou doth make me hungry after God. And as ye seek, ye will find; find the Lord, the greatest way.

“Bless our pastor, this morning, and give him the message, for the young people as well as the old people. We all need God. We all must have special help and we’re glad to call the Lord God, our help. Bless us everywhere–in every camp, and every place. And make God so work, there will be showers of blessings; mercy falls around us. We’ll pray for the power of God to be displayed. Lord, blessed be.

“Make us all what we ought to be and every thought we make, the Lord is thine. Hear us. Have Thy way in our lives. We pray to thee, for thou hast done great things for us; we’re awfully glad. And hope for years to come; our shelter from this stormy place, and our eternal home.

“Bless our pastor and that this morning that we may all obey the message because of course we ought to do what God says. To bless us of all sin, let us have Thy way. To Him, we give all the praise.”

Prayer of Myrtle Mainse Kenny, Pine Grove Church, 1985

  2. David, don’t feel badly for teaching from scripture about future events involving Israel and what The Lord said would happen to those who seek to destroy His people. I personally would like to gain a better understanding about how the prophecies are playing out in current events. God bless us, every one.

  3. I could not agree more, David. The weapons of war are most likely far beyond our knowledge and are accurate to surgical precision. The mounting radical ideology of Islamic fundamental extremes is forming the “perfect storm.” Islamists will surely be the aggressor and author their own destruction. We can only pray and remain vigilant and confident in how history has already declaired our protection and inevitable victory, in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

  4. Thanks Beverlee for writing out the prayer of Myrtle Mainse Kenny. I listened and marvelled at her prayer at her age, now I will write it out. Such encouragement as we get older to know that the mind of Christ leads us and keeps us.
David, thanks for the enlightenment on today’s scriptures. I believe too that if we all prayed to our God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, that the world would not be in such turmoil. The god of this world or age is a defeated foe in the lives of those who serve Jesus, Alleluhia!
May the year ahead bring others to know the one true God of this universe.
May this coming year also bless everyone following this blog. It’s a blessing in itself. Thank you David for your commitment.

  5. Thanks so much David for your teachings. History is incredibly revealing. My husband is of Hueguenot descent and their history is directly related to our bible. Can’t believe the suffering that group endured as well as their opposers.
Just can’t understand all the hate and turmoil associated with the cradle of civilization. The bible indeed produces many of the answers. Thanks again for the knowledge you bring us each day.

  6. Thank you Pastor for today’s teaching. Praise The Lord we can come boldly into His presence because of Jesus. Each day I am learning more and more from our blog and I am glad you do not hold anything back from us, that is how we understand.

Blessings to all. Could you pray for my husband Ken who fell on the roof at work yesterday and bruised his ribs. He is in much pain, and still working at 69 yrs.

    • We call out to You, Lord God, Heavenly Father, and gracious King, and to the sanctity of the Holy Spirit. We pray for Ken’s rib and back pain to cease and that he be lifted up in Your loving arms to be healed by Your mighty presence. For we know all things that are good come through You. We give thanks for Catherine and uphold her, that her worries may cease. In the mighty name of Jesus we pray, amen, amen, and amen.

      • Thank you Beverlee, we just came back fom a 7 hour wait in emergency, but Praise The Lord no broken ribs but will probably be sore for two/three weeks. Ken thanks everyone for their prayers.
What joy fills my heart knowing others care! Bless you.

  7. Catherine, I pray for freedom from pain for Ken and quick recovery and healing for him in the Mighty Name of Jesus the Greatest Physician!! Amen!!!

May the year 2014 be filled with the Joy of the Lord

  8. At one time I paid attention to arguments about the creation of Adam and Eve: some saying it is not literal and others saying it is literal. I said, it is not important how, just that it is true. There was a mistake in this because the Bible says Adam and Eve are real people. However, it is also true that we can’t guess God’s ways. Jesus was born and preached and suffered exactly as the Bible said, yet most of the Jews, including most of his apostles, did not see it at the time. After He was crucified he spoke with two of His apostles and had to actually show them all the scripture that showed who He is. Likewise, the world did not have nuclear weapons at the time of Sodom and Gomorrah. So, God does not need nuclear weapons to punish Satan and his disciples. However, God might make that the way just to prove me wrong. Who knows. No one but God.

  9. Please pray for me as I am still in great pain from falling and also having other physical trouble. Spent three hours in walk in to day. No resuilts of what is really wrong with me. My trust is in the Lord.
    Thanks for your prayers.

    • Lord, bless our sister, Elizabeth, and hold her in Your loving arms; protect her, nurture her, heal her, and comfort her. Let Your blood wash over and cleanse her. In Jesus mighty name, we pray, amen, amen, and amen!

  10. Hi David Mainse
It is later at night on the 28th on the West Coast as I have read this for the 2nd time today. All of messages today – as they are every day – are so great and appropriate. But what has gripped me both times I read your prayer – and prayed your prayer for myself – is the number of times you are crying to the Lord saying, ‘Help!~” One word prayers are sometimes the only pray we know how to pray in our particular circumstances. I am praying, Pastor David, that God will answer the deepest prayers of your heart. The battle is raging but thank God, we are on the winning side. Christ won the battle on the cross for all time and eternity. “O God, continue to stretch forth your hands – even this moment – upon Pastor David’s life, touching with your healing love, strengthening, and answering the prayers of his heart as he continues his personal journey of physical recovery, as well as, he continues this two year journey through the scriptures – and continues to be healed in body, soul and spirit – so that he will continue to fulfil your perfect plan for his life. May God bless, encourage, and strengfhen Pastor David, Norm-Jean and all the family, as well as the huge extended family of 100 huntley street. May your mighty Name coninue to be glorified through each and every one of our lives. Continue to touch many of the bloggers who are suffering in various ways. May they feel the touch of God – even this moment – on their/our lives – for the Glory of God, the extension of your kingdom and the encouragement of each other. In the precious name of Jesus.” Samuel
