THE MEETING & THE KISS

Suggested Reading: Psalms 84-86

Click scripture link to read online or HERE to listen online (then click the symbol of the audio speaker above the scripture portion).

Golgotha (meaning "skull" in Aramaic) also called Calvary (from Latin calva, meaning "bald head" or "skull"), may be at this skull-shaped hill in Jerusalem. It is an ancient quarry through which a main road passes just outside the Damascus Gate. The prophet Jeremiah wrote in Lamentations 1:12, "Is it nothing to you, all you who pass by? Behold and see if there is any sorrow like my sorrow, which the Lord inflicted on me in the day of His fierce anger." Thousands of people "pass by" each day here at the Arab East Jerusalem Bus Station. Without exception, the Romans always crucified people beside the most busy roads in order to show an example to as many people as possible.

Key Verse: Psalm 85:10

Mercy and truth have met together;

Righteousness and peace have kissed.

Our key verse found fulfillment at the cross of Christ! God’s mercy to the entire human race was made available at the cross! God’s Truth and righteousness, for which Jesus made the ultimate sacrifice, was satisfied. The Apostle Paul, a Jewish Rabbi, wrote, “Having made peace through the blood of His cross…” (Read Colossians 1:15-22).

Psalm 84 should cause us to ask of ourselves this question: When is the last time we longed to go to church with such an intense desire?

Psalm 85 is a cry to God for revival, a hymn to be sung in the house of God! After such a fervent prayer, confidence fills the heart and mind of the writer. “YES, the Lord will give what is good!” (Psalm 85:12a).

In Psalm 86, King David gives reasons why he believes that the Lord will hear his prayer, preserve him, save him, show mercy, teach him, deliver him, strengthen him and give him a sign. When we speak out our confidence in God, our faith is increased.

PRAYER FOR TODAY:

Lord God, You help the helpless. That’s me! I’m confident in Your salvation because You are my God and I trust in You! “You, Lord, are good and ready to forgive” (86:5a). “You, O Lord, are a God full of compassion, and gracious, longsuffering and abundant in mercy and truth” (86:15). Therefore, O Lord, I’m filled with faith in You as I kneel in Your presence to call upon You for this new day. I pray in the Name of the One who brought mercy and truth together, and through Whom righteousness and peace have kissed each other, the Lord Jesus Christ. Amen!!!

100 PERSONAL WORDS:

The eternal, all-powerful, all-loving, all-wise God has provided a way for His unchangeable “rule of law” to be satisfied. God’s Son, fully God, took upon Himself the punishment which I deserved, so that eternal justice has been satisfied. That “kiss” referred to in our key verse presents a picture of what happened as Jesus, fully God, suffered in my place.

I can do no less than give myself again to God for this new day and for the rest of my life. Again this morning I am quoting my daily confession, “I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, Who loved me and gave Himself for me” (Galatians 2:20).

Yours in celebration of “the meeting and the kiss”! I’m amazed that with the help of the Lord, I’ve actually done 500 of these blogs. Thank you for your prayers for me!!! The two-year journey through the Bible will take 730 blogs. Keep praying for this unworthy preacher.

Yours for another 230 blog postings,

David

P.S. Here is a link for important information on how to get Dr. David Jeremiah’s book on overcoming our fears. Please don’t miss getting your very own copy. I believe that all my blog partners should read this book and pass it on to someone else (click here). Also, here’s a word from my son, Ron. Yesterday I was out but want to thank the Lord for giving me new life through this heart valve and for all your prayers for me friends to come through successfully. I was not going to mention this but maybe I should remind you that salt is very bad for people with high blood pressure and I was very very sick after my dip. Plan to get my copy of Dr. David Jeremiah’s book. God bless you all.

  8. First of all I would like to say that there is something wrong about the word blog or bloggers, doesn’t sound right. I am new to the computer world. Somehow someone should have come up with a better word! Secondly, I’d like to say that today I’m off to the bookstore to by a new bible. I am starting something new with my life. It is because of you Pastor David, your supportive family members and the friendly “bloggers”. I’ve been apart of this very special daily time of praise, fellowship and teaching for only the last few weeks. I cannot describe in words how this has changed my life. I am learning how to pray by Pastor David’s example set forth. This is big for me. I feel so close God. Like I said before, I really can’t describe how I feel as I would be writing for ever! You “bloggers” inspire me. Your knowledge base is huge. Thank you all! You have been a true blessing to my life. I am going around to all I know talking about how great this site is and how great God is! I don’t think I’ve caught any fish yet. Doesn’t really matter. It’s in God’s hands. Can’t turn off “joy”. I am thankful that I have a place to go to everyday to get filled. To God our strength! Amen, amen!

  12. 500 blogs? Oh my. 🙂 I have been with you right from the start David M. It has been a wonderful and enlightening journey and a beautiful way to start each day.
    Looking forward to the rest of this blog time, and if you don’t carry on in a new version, I believe it would be worth it to redo this all over again. I have reread many of the blogs. There is always a new light & understanding shed every time one reads the Word. Thank you David M. for your obedience in starting this blog and for your continued faithfulness in writing it every day. You and those who help you with this have been such a blessing. Pray for you every day.

  13. Hello,David,
    I enjoy your blog which I receive daily via email.It is the biblical nourishment I crave.I am a mature ‘baby Christian’,Baptized 2 yr ago.The Lord found me a year prior to that (I know now it was only then I took His hand.)Out of the blue,I began writing poetry (a couple months before I was baptized) which soon turned to poems of comfort for bereaved mothers and then to Christian poetry also.Details aren’t important and my testimony would take too much space.I post them on my FB page most days.Here is one that immediately jumped in my mind when reading today’s blog:
    A Kiss By Love

    The vastness of the sins we wrought
    Was cancelled by one wooden cross,
    For there alone forgiveness was bought
    By the Gift of His Son who took our loss.

    What caused this Man of holy reign
    To take our sins of unholy shame
    And with His blood give hope again,
    When He was least of all to blame?

    This King of kings who rose above,
    Broke the serpent’s strangle hold,
    For hate was given a kiss by Love
    In the greatest story ever told.
    G W(Bill) Marshall / June 08, 2013
    I would also like to include these ongoing thoughts from ‘a baby Christian’.Thanks and God bless
    [Psalm 86:8 & 10
    Among the gods there is none like You, O Lord;
    Nor are there any works like Your works.]
    [For You are great, and do wondrous things;
    You alone are God.]
    All of the gods were created by man but inspired by
    Satan to confuse and dilute faith in the only God.To
    weaken faith is to send man down a road of doubt where only honesty (not to be confused with ‘truth’,but truth is integral.)can bring him back.On examining what claims to be truth,you will often find empty words.What other ‘religion’ has miracles that were witnessed by huge crowds and recorded in secular history?Christianity is not a religion (except to those who’s faith is weak) ,it is “historical fact”. 14. Dear Rev. David M.
    What a fantastic 500 days of daily learning you have given us . So grateful to you and your family in helping each of us walk through Gods precious Word . i am truly overwhelmed by Our Lords unfailing Love and all I wish is to let Him be known to whoever doesnt know Him, Jesus Our Saviour Our Lamb Our King. Amen Amen .
    Keeping each of you in constant prayer . We are so blessed to be able to support each other giving Him thanks and all the Glory and worship until His return.
    PS. As I speak to you at this very moment my dear friend with whom I have shared with his wife 47 years of a wonderful friend ship is now being operated for a tripple bypass . I would appriciate very much if you would join me in praying for Barry and Murielle . May they know by this major trial our Great Physician ,finally turn their life to Jesus. So Lord thank you for using each of us as your vessel with each of us with our own guidance by the Holy Spirit.
    Blessed day everyone
    xxxx Carole.

  15. Dear Folks, I also am so blessed every day, I’m not to old to learn something new
    daily , and this blog is were I learn more and more every day. And I thank David.M
    and all you wonderful people that are helping with this blog thank you all you dear people, welcome on board Susan and enjoy our Jesus our Lord….R….

  16. You are not an unworthy teacher. There are few truly christian teachers left in the world and it does not look good for the world. If this were an opera, you would be a lead and I would be lucky to be in the chorus but the body of Jesus has many parts.

  17. Lord, I pray that you will be with Barry now as You have been with me and you will give his wife Murielle the peace and strength that she needs,and You will draw them to thyself through this operation. In Your Name, Lord Jesus. Amen.
