TEARS IN GOD’S BOTTLE

Suggested Reading: Psalms 54-56

Above is a British military building abandoned in 1948 when the British left the area. Palestine was a part of the Turkish Ottoman Empire which was dismantled following the 1st world war. (1914 - 18) Britain was given the mandate to rule much of the middle east by the Treaty of Versaille and did so for 30 years. The Israelis have since used it for military practice, as you can see by the shelling. If you click on the Google Map link below, you will notice that this building is on the Israeli-Jordanian border. The Scriptures tell us that "Wars and rumours of war" will be a constant in the area until Messiah comes!

Key Verse: Psalm 56:8b

“Put my tears into Your bottle; are they not in Your book?”

All three Psalms in today’s reading begin with prayer, fervent prayer! God hears even an unspoken prayer, one which is a thought, but it is important to speak out loud when possible. God will respond to the fervency level of our prayers. Fervency puts exclamation points behind our words!!! Imagine the scene when David moans “noisily” (Psalm 55:2), or David is crying aloud “evening, morning, and at noon” (55:17). Then you are urged to “cast your burden on the Lord” (55:22a). Our key verse tells us that David’s tears were part of his heartfelt prayers. These Psalms also draw the conclusions that “He has delivered me out of all trouble,” “I will trust in You,” and “You have delivered my soul from death!” Amen!

PRAYER FOR TODAY:

“Hear my prayer, O God!” I cry out to You for mercy, grace, and Your intervention in my life and in the lives of all those whose names I speak before You (Here I name every name that comes to my mind and speak those areas of need in each life of which I am aware). Most of all, I cry out to You, Lord God, for the salvation of precious souls who need Jesus as Saviour and Lord. I pray in the Name of the One Who wept over the needs of people, Jesus Christ! Amen!!! (John 11:31-36).

100 PERSONAL WORDS:

I identify with David’s prayers and also with the actions that followed his prayers. David wrote in Psalm 54:6, “I will freely sacrifice to You; I will praise Your name, O Lord, for it is good.” I ask myself, “What am I sacrificing to the Lord?” Someone has said, “There is no sacrifice in the light of Calvary.” In other words, the greatest sacrifice I can make of time, energy, money, and other resources, are all as nothing when compared to what Jesus gave in the ultimate sacrifice of Himself on the Cross! Yet I must not minimize my responsibility to give my very best to God.

I’ve been thinking often lately about my giving to God. I do this by supporting with time and money the works of the Lord as they are being done in ministering to others around the world. For example, Crossroads has a world-wide mandate from God to use television to respond to the urgent plights of those in need (click here for information and see photos below). Also, Crossroads continues to have that call of eternal importance…winning men, women, boys and girls to Jesus. Our new ministry leader, Dr. John Hull, is committed 100% to these goals. Norma-Jean and I have downsized in our housing. We are completely content in a condo apartment of 1100 square feet. Therefore, we have the potential of giving major gifts to God above and beyond our tithes and our monthly offerings to Crossroads, Light For All Nations, and other ministries that are effective for God. I would be honoured to make a presentation, in person, on behalf of God’s work to anyone who wants to give a major gift to God’s work. I ask that I be contacted for such a visit. Thank You! Thank You! Thank You!

Yours for the most valuable cause in the universe,

David

Representing Crossroads in 2008, my son Reynold, our blog photographer, and his wife Kathy found "Treasures in the Trash" at the Phnom Penh, Cambodia, city garbage dump. That title became the theme of a successful fundraising campaign to help these special people.

Here Reynold is surrounded by Turkana children and adults from a village in Kenya. Crossroads is now partnering with the Turkana Eden Agricultural Ministry based in Lodwar Turkana, Kenya. Together, with the support of Crossroads' members we are winning precious souls to Christ and caring for those in great need of food, clean water and shelter.?

  1. Behold, God is my helper;
The Lord is the sustainer of my soul.

Thank you Kathy and Reynold, for the selfless missions work and foundations you have established in Cambodia and Kenya, and elsewhere. Praise God, we, as Canadians, are able to give to the Crossroads Ministry, to bring love and aid to those in need around the world.

“The heart that serves, and loves, and clings,
Hears everywhere the rush of angel wings.”

Blessings, fellow saints… and love to you and Norma-Jean, today, David Mainse!

  2. Aside from our Lord’s blessed Name, “praying with fervency” has to be among the leading mentions in both this blog and your book, “This Far By Faith” !!! Thank you for teaching us how to pray, and what we need to pray about. Life certainly changes as we do so. There is no doubt as we grow closer with our Father, prayers are said with more fervency and intention. We need clarity in this world we live in! Oh Father, hear our prayers and lead us in your direction, by the annointing power on Your Holy Spirit and in Jesus’ name!!! Amen!

  4. Prayed your prayer fervently this morning, David M. Amen to your prayers, David and Beverlee. Thank God for the opportunity to support missions through 100 Huntley St. When I saw the Turkana people, I thought of the opportunity to take a trip with Missionary Iris Scheel in that direction as far as Pokot, Kenya and of the German missionary nurse, Sister Margaret Meyer who served the Turkana people faithfully and sacrifically for so many years. Praise God the work is still going on through 100 Huntley St. “For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love, which ye have shewed toward His Name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister.”(Heb. 6:10). Blessings to you today, David and fellow saints.

  5. Why God Made Tears

God made tears to cleanse the soul
and to unburden the troubled heart.
He made tears to release our sorrows
and give expression to grief to part.
God made tears to give our pain a road to travel
and our fears a place to flee.
He made tears to give strength to prayer
    and to magnify our needs.
So let us praise God for making tears,
but one thing needs to be said
For all the tears mankind has cried
they cannot equal the number God has shed.

  6. I am asking for prayer for myself, I am in so much pain with my shoulder! I moan noisily, especially at night, and long to fly away and be at rest. I have had an MRI and ultrasound but now I cannot see the specialist until Jan22nd. I don’t know how I can cope as the medication does not take away the pain. This has been going on since Feb-March. I would ask that I can see the surgeon sooner, if it be the will of God. Thank you all for you comments, but especially David M for this blog. I have found it difficult to concentrate on my own, but have been blessed over and over by 100words.ca . Thank you, may God richly bless you all today and every day. Mary

    • Perhaps phone the Dr.’s office and see if they can slide you in earlier for an appointment should they have a cancellation. Tell them that you could come in at anytime. Ask if they could move up you appointment. Explain that you are in great pain. I will be praying for you.

  7. We love this ministry. Crossroads ministries are excellent ground to sow into. Looking back, l wanted to give to everything, and had to learn balance. l had to learn to give my tithe to my local church and be there to help my immediate family. We still get loads of mail from many wonderful ministries and sometimes we give, and sometimes we pray, holding the request up to the Lord. We had a teacher suggest that we intentionally set aside a little money to use in our own realm of witness, for perhaps a card to encourage someone, or some baking or take someone out to breakfast. We need to be generous with those around us too! It’s all about balance.Have a great day everyone!

  8. Dear Mary, l just saw your prayer request. l pray in Jesus name that you will find relief and be healed completely joining my prayer in agreement with all the others who will be sure to pray for you. God is able!
