Key Verses: 2 Timothy 2:15, 22b
Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth…but pursue righteousness, faith, love, peace with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart.
Today’s reading continues the military manual for spiritual warfare. “Endure hardship as a good soldier of Jesus Christ” (2:3). “No one engaged in warfare entangles himself with the affairs of this life” (2:4). Our weapon of choice is “The sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God” (Eph. 6:17b). “The Word of God is not chained” (2:9b). We are “not to strive about words to no profit.” Let us keep to God’s Word and not become caught up in conspiracy theories, etc. “Avoid foolish and ignorant disputes, knowing that they generate strife” (2:23). Finally, God approves of those who “rightly divide the Word of Truth” (2:15b). In division in mathematics, there are several factors. Remember the divisor, etc.? Even so, comparing Scripture with Scripture will help us learn “TRUTH”…rightly divided.
PRAYER FOR TODAY:
Lord God, I pray, as I often heard my father pray as we would kneel after breakfast around the kitchen table, “Father God, may the smile of Your approval be on my life this new day.” In Jesus’ Name I ask this mercy, Amen!!!
100 PERSONAL WORDS:
My Dad in his prayer would often quote the couplet, “Heaven came down our souls to greet, and glory crowns the mercy seat.” God is seated in mercy toward all who have confessed their sin, repented with godly sorrow, and turned away from sin. What great assurance!!!
For some reason as I read today’s Scriptures, I thought of the time when Norma-Jean and I, along with our four children, were in a tough place financially. I was offered a job selling pots and pans from door to door in order to supplement our $25.00 per week salary from the church. The Scripture about not “entangling” myself came to mind. I determined to spend even more time visiting from door to door with the message of Jesus than I would have visited trying to sell pots and pans. The result was that more people began attending services and the offerings grew to more than I could have ever made in sales. Amen!!!
Also for the e-mail edition of 100words.ca yesterday, there was a little round face that somehow showed up instead of the number “8” (one of those crazy quirks). I’m constantly learning new things on the computer! I discovered that on this “WordPress” blog program, if I put a bracket beside the number 8, it becomes a face like this… 8) . I’m told that these kinds of faces are called “emoticons.” Ron corrected the online edition for me at www100words.ca. Thanks Ron for all your help, and thanks Ann for reading my words over for any mistakes I may have made, and thanks David Reynold for those great photographs, and thanks to all of you who encourage me with your responses.
Yours for being “diligent” in the reading of God’s Word,
David
P.S. One of our children’s productions from the 80’s, which some who read this helped us produce by your offerings, has been aired in over 50 countries. It’s called “Kingdom Adventure.” Paul refers to “a pure heart” in today’s reading (2:22b). Click here for something about a “pure heart” to show the children in your life (especially the song at the end of the episode called “Beauty Comes from a Pure Heart”).
Received some new understanding from the Apostle Paul’s instruction to Timothy. Loved your blog, David for the children and hope to show it to my grandnieces today. May the Lord strengthen you today in your recovery. Blessings to you brothers and sisters.
Oh how the story of your childhood makes tears run down my face as I wasn t raised in a christain home and the picture of your family kneeling in prayer gives me the desire that wish I had done ths in my home but now my children are grown in homes of their own and grandchildren that need the Lord , please help me Lord to be ths womanof God you want me to be and open up your word to me as we read your word Lord Jesus thank you for healing David as he has a job to do for you I praise you for your wonderful word Lord in Jesus name Amen
Peter was able to walk on the water by faith, until he took his eyes off Jesus looking at the storm instead. We need to remain focussed on Christ Jesus or we too will be tossed to and fro from the waves of life. Your simple prayer today David, is a wonderful way to begin our day! Perhaps the emoticon with the glasses and smile, are a simple reminder of the goodness of placing our focus and trust in our Father, Son and Holy Spirit! Have a great day, to all!
Great comment David, I couldn’t agree more. It’s that single focused view upon Jesus that will make all the difference in our lives. Have a great Lord’s Day to all, God Bless!
I ditto your remarks, Scott, to David’s comment. Keeping our eyes on Jesus is the ultimate answer. As soon as we take our focus off Jesus we are at risk of being pulled away and getting stuck elsewhere. Our mission is Jesus!
Blessings to you Pastor David and fellow saints. As we go to our places of worship may we sense the presence of the Living God.
Thank you for your prayer David and know that each of you are loved!
Jesus is our only source and supply …He guides us on paths of righteousness for His Name’s sake. As we lean on Him and trust and obey, we will have a Great Day….Have a Great Day in the Lord today!!!
Irene
Dear Rev. David Mainse,
It is with great humility and gratitude that I now recite your father’s beautiful prayer:
”Father God, may the smile of Your approval be on my life this new day”
In Jesus’ Name, I ask this mercy.
Amen
Keeping you in my prayers for our Lord’s complete healing. I hope you had a fruitful encounter with many souls!
Have a blessed day worshiping our Lord everyone!

2 Tim 2: 11-13:
A trustworthy saying:
If we died with him, we will also live with him;
If we endure, we will also reign with him.
If we disown him, he will also disown us;
If we are faithless, he remains faithful,
For he cannot disown himself.
Wow! Praise God for this day. Praying you have a restful day with your family, dear David Mainse, and that God continues to revive you with strength and healing and peace. You are such a faithful servant, indeed! I thank you for teaching me about Jesus’ love for me, over the years, with 100 Huntley Street; but particularly, through this blog. It has been a remarkable experience and such a divine gift! I had been praying for a miracle to come into my life and transform me–then you started your daily blog! I thank God for you, from the bottom of my heart!
Praying for all saints to have a restful and peaceful day in the Lord, feeling the greatness of His all enduring mercy and love for us.
Hi David and Blogging friends, What a great time we had in church this morning! If only people would know what they are missing! Some people can’t get out but some elect to stay home, and watch the T.V. church, but there’s nothing like the fellowship and love we all receive when we assemble together, when we love the Lord. We just had relatives from England here who have resisted coming to faith in Jesus. We suggested to them that to get away from the chaos in the airport to go to the chapel, where it is nice and quiet. We also told them from time to time, the door would open and in would come an air-hostess or pilot who came in for a quiet prayertime. Our relative was shocked, and with eyes boggling out he said !!!!!!!!!!! Do you mean to tell me that a pilot wouldn’t have enough confidence to fly the plane without asking for help!!!!!! He is so blinded, as are all unsaved people. His comment was funny but so sad! “Open their eyes Lord, and let them see Jesus”
I Trank you and your family ! God bless you all now and forever!!!!!!!

Thank you fellow-bloggers for your comments. The hymn Turn your eyes upon Jesus came to my mind as I read!!!!! Turn your eyes upon Jesus look full in His wonderful face and things of earth will grow strangely dim in the light of His glory and grace. God bless each one!!!!!
My focus is on Jesus. Every day I am antisipating his appearing in the clouds .
I realize there are still a few more prophasies to be full filled but I believe we are in the season .
I am very excited about the rapture. When I talk about Jesus appearing soon
some people scoff at me and say oh that’s just a theory, don’t be rediculous.
We all have our opinions . I love to learn from others. I agree there are many so
called conspiracy theories floating around, of which “”some have”” been proven to be fact.
Just because non believers do not believe in Jesus, it doesn’t change the facts nor alter the evidence of his existance. And when you know that you know …… you know . If non believers would seek the truth they would find it.
