DON’T WORRY, BE HAPPY

Suggested Reading: Romans 8

The Trevi Fountain is a fountain in the Trevi district in Rome, Italy. Standing 26.3 metres high and 49.15 metres wide, it is the largest Baroque fountain in the city and one of the most famous fountains in the world. The song, "Three Coins In The Fountain," comes from here. Prayer is effective reality, not superstition, like the wishes made here.

Key Verse: Romans 8:38-39

For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord…

All the verses in Romans 8 are keys which unlock the amazing provisions God has for us. Therefore, we may want to read this chapter over and over again until we are absolutely sure that we have made every word an integral part of our being.

Here are some random thoughts – (1) “The law of the Spirit of life.” This is like the law of aerodynamics. When the power is applied to the aircraft engines, the law of gravity is overcome, and we rise to new heights. Today, apply the power of the Holy Spirit and rise above sin and death. Amen! (2) Just imagine; no don’t just imagine, actually do it. Call the God of the universe, “Abba,” or in our language, “Daddy.” (3) Our key verses, like dozens of other promises of God, offer the perfect antidote to worry, fear, and uncertainty. So lift up your head. Go into the world with total confidence. Nothing, nothing, absolutely nothing can separate us from the Lord Jesus and His love.

PRAYER FOR TODAY:

Lord God, You cannot lie. You’ve promised me Your constant Presence, and I believe You 100%. Please grant me a new consistency in faith in You so that I won’t worry, fret, or have any fear. In Jesus’ Name I pray. Amen!

100 PERSONAL WORDS:

Someone or something did separate me earlier this morning, not from the love of God, but from the Internet. Just now I’m reading on the screen of my laptop, “You are not connected to the Internet.” So I’ve written today’s blog by hand. You are reading this and that means my connection has been restored. I’ve just gone back to my laptop and guess what… it’s working. These new technologies are a complete mystery to me. I understand almost nothing. I do understand, however, that NOTHING can separate me from God’s love. That’s the most important understanding in the universe. This amazing ability that God has to be able to give individual attention to millions of us is mind boggling. It’s far more sophisticated than the Internet, and it never goes down. God placed the physical laws in His creation concerning the Internet (millions of messages simultaneously). Man did not really invent the Internet; man simply thought God’s thoughts after Him and discovered it. Like North America, it was there all the time. The Native people knew that, and Columbus discovered it for the rest of the world. And here I am typing from my handwriting so I can send this to you wonderful people who are reading this on your computer.

Yours for communicating God’s love in person and through every available technology,

David

P.S. The great cathedrals were built to communicate visually to a largely illiterate people. We are again in a visual age. Have you checked out Crossroads’ new 7-channel world-wide Internet TV network? Check out www.crossroads360.com. A video explanation of the site can be found here.

The central statue in Rome's Trevi Fountain is of Neptune, god of the sea, riding a chariot in the shape of a sea shell, being pulled by two sea horses.

  1. Breathtaking pictures Reynold! Superb! Romans 8 is one of the great chapters of the Bible; it’s assurance of our security in Christ is not in question here. God did not just wind up the proverbial clock of the world only to have it unwind on it’s own while He walked away from it for a time. No! God intimately cares about each of us and He wants to have a relationship with us through His son, Jesus Christ. As you’ve mentioned David, we have no reason to worry and to fear for God is with us, now and for eternity.

  2. There is so much truth in today’s reading, and your “written and typed” words have been an encouragement! I like how the Holy Spirit will pray with us from within, prayers which we need to pray but prayers which may not be coming to mind. And Paul’s definition of hope as that which is unseen. Great pictures! Have a great day readers, bloggers and friends!

  3. David
Many times I have come to the problem I am not hooked up with the internet but I press a key and I know that is not true. Nothing can seperate us from God.
When I intersead or speak in an unknown language I wish i knew what I am communicating but God knows and maybe I will know when I get to heaven.
Its good to have an intimate relationship with God and that he is wherever I am.
I have a new KOBO which you can read books now to interesting but I also like turning pages in a book
Those pictures are wonderful my neice went to Rome, and took many pictures she has not shown me all.
    God bless you

  4. It’s still inspiring David, to see your passion and conviction for God’s promises to us. Thanks for the fire within that you still share.

  5. God’s free love is in the gift of his Son. Whatever believers can be separated from, enough remains, for none can take Christ from a believer, and none can take a believer from Him. He lives in us, we live in Him. He is enough. He is able to do exceeding abundantly above all we ask or think according to the power that works within us. His faithful Love abides forever.

  6. David, I have a new appreciation for the book of Romans as I understand it better, from reading your blog and reading Dr. Ratz’s book alongside. He titles,Chapter 1, “THe Gentile Requires God’s Righteousness”, and the 2nd, “The Jew Requires God’s Righteousness”, and then goes on from there. I felt like you impressed to read Chapter 8 and actually the whole book over and over to get it in my spirit. The Word is…”life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh.”(Proverbs 4:22). Reynold is a courageous young man and I am praying for his safety. Beautiful pictures of little Jadice. God bless you all.

  7. This is regarding yesterdays blog on the smell of sin. I recently read that the smell may bother us at first but if we don’t deal with it right away we get used to the smell. Dealing with our sin on a daily basis is the only way to prevent the smell and if we don’t, the smell of the sin can overpower the fragrance of God in our lives.
Lord may we all be sensitive to Your leading when we sin and ask forgiveness and for a clean heart and right spirit.
It is so comforting to know our connection to our Father is never broken. If it is, it will be us who broke it.
Thank you David for this deeper look through Romans.

  8. If I am not mistaken, In the law of aerodynamics, the aircraft has to fly against the wind in order to rise up to its desired height. I can think of spiritual conotations to this.

    • Yes, aircraft take off into the wind. And, the lift happens from the top of the wing. We face resistance for best results and are lifted by the Holy Spirit!

  9. Today’s key verses are my life verses that I have chosen for myself many years ago. Just nothing I face now or in the future will be able to seperate those who believe in Jesus from God and His love. Amen! to this.
Thank you David for the time you take to do this blog. Blessings to you and your family. God keep you strong as you minister to us.

  10. Hi I couldn’t seem to spot the seahorses pulling the chariot!

Thanks so much for sharing your faith with us!!

Thanks be unto God for His wonderful gift:
Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son of God
is the object of our faith; the only faith
that saves is faith in Him.

  11. Hallejah and Amen!
Chapter 8 of Romans is so powerful.
I have read it many times and each time something else speaks to me.
I do not know if I am at the point of calling Abba, Daddy but I definitely receive and accept that nothing can separate me from the love of God.
I received the Crossroads Compass today and I so am declaring with tears in my eyes(I cry alot but I do not think God minds)
But what Anne Mainse said is so true.
…God is beckoning us onward..to Jesus. I’m off and running, and I’m not turning back(Phil 3:14 msg)
Also the heavenly prize is Christ Jesus, Himself.”
Jesus is my goal and my primary focus.
Nothing can separate me from Him
I share His love with family and friends.
It is up to the Holy Spirit to save and deliver them.
I love talking to Jesus and sharing my burdens for friends and loved ones.
But today I just hear echoing and re-echoing my spirit.
I’m off and running, and I’m not turning back.
The Holy Spirit is such a comforter and counsellor
I do not know where I would be w/o Him.

Many blessings on 100 Huntley St, David Mainse and His family, and fellow bloggers.
U r constantly in my prayers.
God is going to do such great things.
Last July 9th 2012 Father God gave me this verse which I claimed.
For I am going to do something in your days that u would not believe even if u were told.
    Hab 5 vs 1
    Hallejah!
God does great things and He uses all of our past to glorify His Holy name.
That is all I want to do is glorify His Holy name in all I say and do.

    Love and many blessings.
    In Christ
    Your eternal sister
    Mellany

  12. So late getting here to post a message, today, but so delighted, at having read everyone’s thoughts and feeling the joyfulness in your hearts. Thanks, David, for such a wonderful message, today, as always.

I can only just begin to wrap myself around Romans 8. I would explain it as being one of the most love-filled passages of scripture we have read–all of Romans, really. It literally feels like we are reading love. Praise God!
