Key Verse: Numbers 7:1-3

Now it came to pass, when Moses had finished setting up the tabernacle, that he anointed it and consecrated it and all its furnishings, and the altar and all its utensils; so he anointed them and consecrated them. Then the leaders of Israel, the heads of their fathers’ houses, who were the leaders of the tribes and over those who were numbered, made an offering. And they brought their offering before the Lord, six covered carts and twelve oxen, a cart for every two of the leaders, and for each one an ox; and they presented them before the tabernacle.

Today’s reading may make us wonder as to why it’s here. It is so repetitive. The gifts which the leaders of the tribes present to God at the dedication of the Tabernacle are listed 12 times over. Could a reason be to show generosity? Could another reason be to teach the children what it means to take responsibility as the heads of households? God instructs parents to show leadership, teaching, not only in word, but by example. If we as parents are givers, chances are that our children will also be givers.

PRAYER FOR TODAY:

Dear Lord Jesus, You are the greatest Giver, and according to Your Word, You live in and through me. Please grant me the grace to channel Your Spirit of giving through me. In Your Name I pray. Amen!

100 PERSONAL WORDS:

Today, Norma-Jean and I, along with 100 others, fly to Israel. For the next two weeks, I hope to connect to the Internet in our hotels in order to continue this daily blog. I might even have more inspiration than usual as we travel every day through the Biblical sites. God willing, I’ll be leading in the reading of Scriptures that relate to our stops. I plan to read my blogs each morning to our brothers and sisters who travel with us. Next year at the same time, if health and strength permit, I would love to have many of you who join me daily on the Internet travel with us to Israel. Norma-Jean and I have done this every year since 1968. It’s not that we need to see the Holy Land again, although we gain new insights every time, it’s that we get to live together for two weeks with wonderful people. We make friends and enjoy each other’s company. We also get to thank, in person, members of our group who give to the support of the ministry of Crossroads. Check out www.crossroads.ca for a fuller understanding of why many give regularly and sacrificially.

Yours for the great joy of giving,

David

  11. Safe journey and blessings on you and Norma Jean as u travel to Israel
I love the story of when Corrie Ten Boom died and the tree died in Jerusalem where they planted the trees for the righteous gentiles.
When Corrie died the tree died and the Israelites had to replant her tree.

Is it not amazing fellow bloggers that Jesus honors those who honor Him?
That the Lord of the universe sits with us and talks with us?
    That He loves us?

    I love reading the OT
I love the stories and history and significance of everything that led Christ Jesus to coming to earth.
I love it where Father God states that He is the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob
    or
    When Enoch walked with God
    or
When Moses died – God buried him – and Moses eyes were not yet dim and his strength was that of a younger man.
    or
That God speaks in the whisper and does not shout
    or
    The story of Elijah
    or
Who could forget the story of Ruth and Boaz
    or
The story of Rahab the prositute
    and
their stories are in the lineage of Jesus
    who
Could forget the story of Mary and Joseph in the NT
I love the songs that Mary sings when she greets Elizabeth and vice versa.
    but also
    The story of Joesph
He was not the father but God chose Mary but also it must have been b/c Joseph loved her so much and he was a righteousn man and also from the house of David.
We hear many stories of Mary but not so many of Joseph.
    I wonder why?
Does anyone know if the description in Daniel and the description in Revelations is Father God or Jesus glorified?
I love reading all the names that Apostle Paul includes at then end of the epistles.
All these people are in heaven.
How brave that man must have been when Father God told him to go and meet Saul who became Paul. The man even said to God that Saul had been murdering Christians but still he obeyed.
An act of faith or obedience to God never goes wrong.
I love how Father God uses ordinary people and people of no consequence to do His bidding.
In Cor. where it states that He chose the foolish and the despised things of the world to confound the wise.
    I love my Lord
I am getting ready for Christmas to celebrate the birth of my Lord and Saviour
Even though it is many days away and maybe not the exact day but I am excited to be celebrating the birth of my Lord.
This year my heart is expecting great things.
I understand that the death and the resurection of my Lord and Saviour is how I am saved and have eternal life but
This year I hear angels singing
    Peace on earth
    Good will to all men.
Blessings to all the bloggers and to David and Norma Jean
    In Christ
    mellany

  12. Many blessings go out to you David, Norma-Jean, Ron & Ann, for a safe and inspiring journey to the Holy Land. How I wish I could be with you right now! Enjoy!
