Key Verse: Exodus 4:13

But he said, “O my Lord, please send by the hand of whomever else You may send.”

Moses was 40 when he tried to protect his people with his own strength, killing the Egyptian who was cruel to the Hebrew workers. Now He’s 80. Instead of living as a son of the royal household of Egypt, he’s had 40 more years as a shepherd, working for his Father-in-law and raising a family. Is he ready to lead in the deliverance of the children of Israel from slavery? According to God, “Yes.” According to Moses, “No.” Just think of all God has done to prepare Moses. There was the miraculous rescue by Pharaoh’s daughter; his Hebrew early childhood education in his parents’ home; his ongoing education in the palace in all the ways of the Egyptians; the supernatural revelation of the burning bush; the signs he asked for; the Name of God given to him, “I am that I am;” and now he still doesn’t think he’s up to the job. When God calls us there is only one acceptable answer, “YES LORD.” Today, let us go through the doors God opens. Failure to do so will displease God, as was recorded of Moses in Exodus 4:14. Almost every day I used to hear my Dad pray, “God, may the smile of your approval be upon our lives.”

PRAYER FOR TODAY:

Lord God, here I am by Your grace. May I never try to do Your work on my own. I need You desperately. I praise You for the ways in which You’ve prepared me for today’s challenges. Let’s go forward. As You lead, I’ll follow. I pray this in the Name of Jesus who obeyed You 100%. Amen!

100 PERSONAL WORDS:

I can identify with Moses. Back in the early 1970’s at family altar, my son Reynold prayed night after night for at least 2 weeks, “O God, please help Daddy to help those poor children in India.” Somehow his heart had been touched by their need. I would mumble under my breath something like this, “Lord, I’ve got enough to do, please send someone else.” I was awakened in the middle of the night by a very insistent telephone ringing over and over. Finally, I got up, went downstairs to the phone, and gave a half-awake grumpy “Hello.” The voice on the other end said, “David, it’s Mark Buntain in Calcutta. I’ve got 800 children to feed and school today, and I’ve just received a cable message that we’ve been cut off from our funding. Can you help me?” Within a month, we had raised sponsors for over 1000 children, raised the monthly amount Mark received per child, and turned the sponsors over to the organization with the lowest operational overhead costs at the time, World Vision of Canada. That experience introduced World Vision to the effectiveness of using TV to raise child sponsorships.

Yours for obedience to God’s call,

David

  1. It’s a tragic loss when God calls us to a task and we shy-away because of the seemingly daunting nature of the task. Human nature is weak, frail and fearful. Often we can overcome this in our own strength by pumping ourselves up for the task i.e. Tony Robbins and a variety of human potential movements which seem so popular these days. But this is not accomplishing tasks in the strength of the Lord. First we need to be prepared for God’s call, we need to be in relationship with Him through His Son Jesus through belief and prayer. Secondly we need to be into His word, studying, learning, discerning, growing. Thirdly, we need the support and help of others who are like-minded and attend a Bible-based Church, those who are Christian and can cheer us onward, pray for us and support us as we heed the call. Fear is opposed to faith and is self-serving … let’s get plugged into God and reach-out fearlessly in faith and in the strength of the Lord!

  2. Dear David,

    Love Boudewina

    • We have discovered that sometimes the emails do not appear in your inbox because some email programs think it is “junk” email and put it into a “junk” or “spam” folder. Try checking that in your email program.

  3. What I love about today’s blog is it demonstrates the parable of the mustard seed growing into a large tree providing shade for the birds. When you think of the number of children over the years World Vision has helped in part due to their television appeals, it is amazing to think those appeals could have started with a child’s seed of faith that God would help his Daddy to help children. Maybe we all should be listening to our children’s prayers a little more carefully tonight

  4. I didn’t receive your email this morning either. However I had kept yesterday’s and was able to get into your blog that way. It wasn’t in the spam box either. That was very interesting information in your 100words concerning Mark Buntain’s need and as a result World Vision starting to use TV to raise child sponsorships. It’s just so wonderful how God works, first of all through prayer and then people!!!

  5. Overwelmed today with His Love, His Grace, He is our Father…and He Loves us….Thank you Lord….

    David….thank you ….. praying for you ….as we journey…..heading home…..

    1 Peter 2.11…..
