Key Verse: Exodus 2:24

So God heard their groaning, and God remembered His covenant with Abraham, with Isaac, and with Jacob.

Here we are in Exodus, the book of departure which starts with the word,”Now.” On July 23rd we completed Genesis with the key verse being God’s promise (Gen 49:10), which was consistent with His promises to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. Fast forward to “Now,” approximately 400 years later. Israel now numbers at least 2,000,000 people. “God remembered” does not infer that God forgot. Of course, He forgets nothing. It does highlight the timing of God. In His dealings with Israel and with us, there are unique times when God moves to bring about His will. Moses makes his appearance in God’s time. The enemy of God’s purposes tried to kill Moses in a sweeping decision to kill all the boy babies. That enemy did the same through King Herod to try to kill Jesus. Let us remember that God will fulfill His plan in His time without fail regardless of the opposition.

PRAYER FOR TODAY:

Father God, Thank You for your timing in bringing about Your plan for Israel. You’ve made hundreds of promises recorded in Scripture which I can claim for my people and for me personally. I stand today on Jeremiah 29:11-13. You promised, “a future and a hope.” You promised, “then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you.” You give me such great encouragement. Thank You! I receive Your blessings and Your timing. Through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen!

100 PERSONAL WORDS:

In Exodus 2:23, the children of Israel “cried out” to God. This was not a formal prayer read from a prayer book. This was a groaning for God’s intervention. Because of my parents’ years in the Middle East, Egypt in particular, and my first cousin’s position at the University of Toronto as Head of Middle East Studies, I took great interest in the “Camp David Accords,” an agreement that was signed in 1978 by President Anwar Sadat of Egypt, Prime Minister Begin of Israel, and President Carter of the U.S.A. The first night that they were at Camp David, I could not sleep. Around midnight I began to cry out to God for His purposes to be fulfilled. I can only describe what happened to me as the most intense intercessory cry to God I had ever experienced. God answered my prayer and the prayers of many others. On the White House Lawn they announced that they (from three different religions) had prayed to the “God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob,” and the rest is history. Sadat was assasinated, but by the grace of God I had the opportunity of sharing my experience of that night with both Begin and Carter, Begin at his home in Jerusalem, and Carter on a “Habitat for Humanity” building site in Kitchener, Ontario. Sorry! I’m well over 100 words. I’m finding the commitment to 100 words a big challenge, but I’ll keep trying.

Yours to help us all to take God’s promises most seriously, because He remembers,

David

  1. God wants us to come to Him humbly without pretense or pride. Maybe this is why Jesus always loved the little children, they simply came to Him as they were, without agendas. We too can come to Him at anytime through prayer and be in an active relationship with Him. God always hears the prayers of the humble at heart.

  2. 100 words or 200 words maters not, what maters is that you say what tha Holy Spirit wants you to say, Thanks David 2:28 Alberta time

    • Please no apologies for “over 100 words”…I am sure we wouldn’t be upset if you keep going on to 500 words — we, more like, would be delighted. I do enjoy seeing the beautiful photos that your son Reynold has taken…it does make me feel that I was there. Do enjoy reading your “100Words.ca”. Many thanks for being there for all of us!

  3. The God Who listenend to the children of Israel cry out that many years ago, will listen to the cries of His children who live at this time and in this culture.
Thanks be to our Awesome God!!!!

  4. It is amazing how God protects, however often the “bigger picture” needs to be seen in order to observe this happening. It may take longer than our lifetime or shorter than a day, but balance is always restored. The slower the reaction, the bigger the problems. Indifference, apathy and non- concern toward the onslot of corruption is a major concern. When someone tells a LIE and this lie is BELIEVED, than the extent to which they BELIEVE the lie … they have been corrupted. Balance needs to be restored in a sound, non-reactionary, persistent and pervasive manner … as did the midwives in Exodus 1.

  5. David

  9. Amen with the others….. It is the Holy Spirit speaking through you…so we dont care how many words….because its awesome…. as we learn more about you and how He has used you through the years….such wonderful information..
Be Blessed today David….. this is the day the Lord has made and we (will) be glad and rejoice in it ………………with praise & thankgiving……..

  10. as the others said, we, your readers, don’t count how many words you write…we are here to listen and learn and enjoy when you share your life experiences. I too, recall twice being led into the most intense intercessory prayer. Once for a son they said had meningitis which was, at that time, killing many, and another time when I was first on a scene of a horrific traffic accident. It is exhausting ‘work’ to be in the depths of such intercessory prayer. I found both times I had no choice in the matter…I HAD to pray and pray with all that was in me…in groanings & utterences. It was like my whole being was in agony. Both times the Lord heard and answered and both people I was praying for survived. The accident person had years of therapy but did manage to regain much of his former health.

  11. Perfect timing. God is the God not of the dead but of the living. They are alive! With Moses, I AM the God of your father-the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob. To us, through the new covenant, the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. In Him we are accepted and for His sake we receive all things. God’s faithful Love abides forever!
