There have been 138 pyramids discovered in Egypt as of 2008. The most famous are those found at Giza, on the outskirts of Cairo. The Pyramid of Khufu at Giza is the largest Egyptian pyramid. It is the only one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World still in existence. The Great Pyramid consists of an estimated 2.3 million limestone blocks.

Key Verse: Genesis 47:10

So Jacob blessed Pharaoh, and went out from before Pharaoh.

At this time, Egypt was at its zenith and Pharaoh may have been the most important ruler on earth. Two verses (Gen. 47:7,10) tell us that Jacob (Israel – Prince of God) blessed Pharaoh. This is an act of sharing the grace of God that was given again and again to Jacob, passed down from Abraham and Isaac. This may have been a simple prayer for Pharoah, or it may have been the laying of Israel’s hand on Pharoah. In Gen. 48:14 Israel blessed Joseph and his two sons by laying his hands on them. God gave Israel a prophetic word for them. To qualify to bless others (please don’t make a big scene, you’ll hurt people rather than bless them if you do) you must be a believer. We have these words in Mark 16:17&18, “These signs will follow them that believe… they will lay hands on the sick and they will recover.” What a blessing! Acts 19:6, “And when Paul had laid his hands on them, they spoke with tongues and prophesied.” Go ahead and bless someone today!

PRAYER FOR TODAY:

Dear Lord, please inspire me to look for opportunities to bless someone today. You have blessed me through others who have prayed for me, now give me grace and willingness to pass on the blessing. In Jesus’ Name I pray. Amen!

100 PERSONAL WORDS:

I’ve been blessed by so many. At 19 two teachers at Bible College laid hands on my head and, according to two doctors, I was healed of a life threatening condition. At 23 I was ordained by the laying on of hands into the ministry of Jesus Christ and His Church. At 25 I was blessed by a gift of $300.00 for the start up of the Crossroads TV ministry. One time when I was under an attack of the enemy, a lady in her eighties laid hands on me and gave me a special word from God. Every night when Norma-Jean was carrying our four children, I would lay my hand on her tummy and bless the little ones inside and pray for Norma-Jean too. Over and over, too many times to count, I’ve been blessed by others. As I lay my fingers on the keyboard of this computer, I pray that I will bless you with this daily blog.

Yours for God’s richest blessing on you who read this,

David

  1. Jacob blesses Pharaoh. Wow! What a conclusion to an epic biblical story! Could you imagine what a witness Joseph must have been? Pharaoh must have clearly seen how God had worked through Joseph that he himself was willing to receive a blessing from Jacob. Fascinating stuff! But we need to ask ourselves, what gifts do we have today that God may use to bless others? The Lord has done a great work through David Mainse and Crossroads as the Lord has blessed. Thank-you for being a blessing David, and for blessing us today. In what ways has the Lord blessed us, that we might go out and bless others, in the name of our Lord?

    • I am learning so much from the Bible each day thanks to your wonderful daily 100words David. The magnificent photographs by your son Reynold are also greatly appreciated and enjoyed.
God has certainly blessed you for your devotion to him all of these years. Thank you once again.

    • David,

  3. You do bless us Pastor Mainse. I remember as a kid (in the 90’s), before I knew Christ, watching this “grandpa” on the TV who just loved people, and love this Yeshua, now all grown up, and three years old in Christ, I must encourage you on what your obedience to the call of God has been in the lives of many of us canucks and many people all over the world, B-L-E-S-S-I-N-G, an huge blessing back to you, and your family as well. Keep your eyes on Yeshua (Hebrews 12:2)

  4. Thank you for this blog that spoke of “Blessing Others”. We have often prayed for those in authority over us, but never thought of speaking words of blessings over them, thank you.
Blessings to you David, and Reynold for the photography, and the whole crossroads family. Thank you so much!

  5. Whether verbal or simply sending forth our positive intentions to another, both are life inspiring and healing. Words are powerful and can both build and edify or be destructive in nature. Therefore, one needs to know if a “blessing” is from the heart or ego. Pharaoh must have totally trusted Jacob’s sound relationship with God to have openly received his blessing. Such is the kind of faith Israel had for Joseph when he asked him for his kindness and faithfulness to be burried at home outside of Egypt. Thank you for your daily blog David, which has truly been a blessing in the true sense of the word.

  6. David

  8. I really find this Blog informative and helpful. My husband bought me a tablet so that I can get the Blog when we are not at home. I do hope these blogs will be made into a written or book-type form for future generations. The world is changing so fast and problems are arising like never before but God’s Word will always be relevant. Thanks so much, David. .

  9. Yes, David you have been a blessing in my life. This blog too, reminds me that there are many opportunities to bless others. I just watched the movie “Terry”. One young man with a dream to encourage HOPE. Canadians have a great deal to be thankful for!
My concern is that apathy and indifference to the reality of our blessings is growing. I thought what if we would claim Canada from Coast to Coast as Terry Fox did; by running a “FAITH RELAY”. We could pass a cross from believer to believer in Jesus name.
Terry Fox had his Marathon of HOPE. We could have our RELAY of FAITH. What do you think Rev. David Mainse?

  10. The Bible tells us to redeem the time by making the most of every opportunity. The world loves bigness. God is capable of big feats like parting the Red Sea, and creating a universe in less than a week. He uses small things like a small army to defeat Midianites and feeding a multitude of people with a boys small lunch. A small baby was sent to save the world. Success isn’t measured by how well known we are or by money we have. God is not impressed with our bigness, but is truly interested in our life and the small and faithful steps we take forward with Him each day. Little things make a big difference to God. God’s Will is perfect and His plans for you always lead to abundant life.

  11. I first met you, ten years ago at 100 Huntley Street in Burlington, Ontario. Last year, I spoke with you and your wife, Eliza Jane, at the Baptist Church in Napanee, after having the pleasure of hearing you preach.

Simply saying thank you does not seem like nearly enough, David. You have been such an amazing blessing to myself and millions of others across the globe. Your insight, guidance, passion, understanding of the Word, ministry, daily blog and television presence are nothing short of all-inspiring.

Know that you have left an indelible mark on this world and a legacy in 100 Huntley Street for your family to carry forward. For the past fifty years, you have led us all one step closer to cultivating our personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Nothing could be more divine! As you remain, forever in our hearts, we continue to pray, lovingly, for you.

    God Bless you, David Mainse!

  12. Hi David
Just as went download your blog after a quiet day at home with a quiet rain feeding the roses outside my kitchen window, the evening sunset broke thru and left a very bright 1/3 of a rainbow that rested upon our neighbours borders. It reminded me of when I was 19 and had to choose if going back to correct all my youth misadventures to a more mature perspective which mature people in my life let me see a better way, and i decided continue to let Jesus find the promises in scripture I would need read into my circumstances of life on the promise he would know what i needed before i could ask in going forward without fear. After baptism he began to show me his choices of the many promises, his father had left him as elder brother to adminster to his prodigal younger. Your message of stewardship of blessing ” the act of passing it on in the present moment” it remindered me of the lay preachers that rode from place to place of the pioneers. when the lord also prepared the words as with a rainbow. It puzzles me that water rights of sharing when herders on opposite sides of a river could see a common function of life , the rising up of barriers was an opportunity hang watering system and hang vineyards and tent shelters with equal supply on both sides with the law of fallow every 7th share no one would have far to go to service the widows and orphans. At the end of the road both neighbours would continue to exstend the grade to . I am surprised there are not water pipelines on the china wall it was started to protect travellers and commerce from the poorly supplied. Sorry David my 100 words will need to be averaged over agreater time —
    bless you all amen ilvu

  13. Thank you again David for this blog. Thank you to our Lord for blessing you and all of us.

I realize all of the Blessings we have in this life and count this blog as one of them.

  14. A VERY ASTUTE MESSAGE OF HOW GOD CONTINUALLY WANTS TO BLESS US AND IN TURN , THAT WE WOULD BLESS OTHERS . THANK YOU PASTOR DAVID FOR YOUR MODEL EXAMPLE OF WHAT IT MEANS TO BE A FOLLOWER OF JESUS CHRIST .
