Key Verse: 2 Corinthians 6:2b, 7:1
Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation…Therefore, having these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.
“NOW!” The present is always the time to do business with God. Like interest on unpaid bills, it will cost more to procrastinate in confessing sin with true repentance. John the Baptist, Jesus, and Peter all began their public ministry with a call to repent. Our reading today gives the very best definition of “repentance” (7:9, 10, & 11). Is this important? Yes, yes, yes!
Just as the Corinthian believers refreshed the spirit of Titus, let’s do our best to refresh our Pastor’s spirit, along with the spirits of church administrators and our missionaries. We could jump ahead and read Paul’s letter to Titus (click here). There is much wisdom in the little book of Titus. How do we do all things well? How do we make sure that we give no offense and that our ministry is not blamed? It’s well worth the time to read today’s chapters 6 & 7 all over again.
PRAYER FOR TODAY:
Lord God, You have called me again today to repent. Your Word is true north. It points to You without fail. It is my compass. Like a pilot or a ship’s captain, may I constantly make corrections in the direction I take in life. Grant me the grace to be diligent. In Jesus’ Name. Amen!
100 PERSONAL WORDS:
I received a letter recently from the former Pastor of Compass Point Church. The initiative of Pastor Ron Gannett has refreshed my spirit. “Compass Point” has a magnificent building next door to the Crossroads Centre in Burlington, Ontario (a photo of the church us below). The real Church is the people. Moira Brown, one of the hosts of the 100 Huntley Street telecast, makes Compass Point her home Church. Over the years my spirit has been refreshed again and again by the Pastor and people of this great congregation. As I type this blog, I’m praying at the same time that everyone who reads this with me will find their spirits refreshed.
When I first became a believer at 16, I was asked to share a personal testimony in the High School auditorium at a Youth for Christ rally. I went to my part-time job boss at the local Chrysler dealership for help. He said, “David, you can never go wrong quoting Scripture,” and suggested Titus 3:5a. I remember that in a faltering voice, I simply said, “This is my testimony, ‘Not by works of righteousness that I have done, but according to His mercy, He saved me.'” The actual quote says, “we” and “us,” but to me it became very personal.
I cannot conclude this blog without commending the leadership of Crossroads. They exemplify the righteous leadership portrayed in today’s reading. I’m so very thankful for our CEO and the entire team at Crossroads Christian Communications Inc. and at the TV network, Crossroads Television System, CTS.
Yours for “Perfecting holiness in the fear of God” (7:1b). Let the process continue!
David
You are correct David, the scriptures point accurately for our life’s path. The scriptures point to the God of creation, the God of our salvation. Believe on Jesus and you can’t go wrong! Now is the acceptable time, as the scriptures state.
AMEN Scott!!! There is no better time than the present to accept Christ!!!
Thank you Nancy for your prayers. Also praying for you today David. One of my brothers went through chemo teatments. May the Lord give you strength.
Confession & repentence so important. Thank you David. Read yesterday for 1st time that God sings over us! (Zeph 3: 175 Awsome.
Zeph 3: 17!
Thank you for the verse Doreen, it blessed my heart.
Your analogy of scripture pointing to true north was perfect. I tweeted a question to a Northwest Airlines Captain about how he avoids wake turbulence (turbulence from another jet being followed while landing). His answer:
…”by keeping her wings level, adding power, and flying above the previous flight path to avoid it altogether.” Hmmm … Keep level, add power and stay above, to avoid making the same turbulent mistakes!!
Awesome analogy, David!
Hi David, We are praying for you! What a rich piece of scripture today, so much there, it’s true that there are answers for everything in God’s word.Always refreshing and renewing our minds. We are Spiritual Millionaires!
Today’s reading and David’s message was awesome.
Paul’s love language that is between us and God, has been afforded the perfect description:
“For you are the temple of the living God. As God has said: ‘I will dwell in them and walk among them. I will be their God, and they shall be My people …. I will be a Father to you, and you shall be My sons and daughters, says the LORD Almighty.’ Therefore, having these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.” 2 Cor 6:16-7:1 No words could be more empowering!
“Now I rejoice, not that you were made sorry, but that your sorrow led to repentance. For you were made sorry in a godly manner, that you might suffer loss from us in nothing. For godly sorrow produces repentance leading to salvation…” 7:9-10
Through our repentance we become cleansed. We are called to live with God in our hearts, for the purpose of serving and glorifying Him. Amen!
Praying for you, David, that you are resting, today. and feeling okay; and that God’s healing powers work through you and give you strength. Wishing fellow bloggers an excellent day!
Amen Beverlee!
Thank you Mr. Mainse for your continued work ,which helps us to better understand the Holy book of our Lord!!!!!!

Dear David
Thank God for your faithfulness. Showing us again that you are not looking at circumstances but as opportunities to make a difference in the lives of others. Take courage in Psalm 91. Verses 15 & 16 is my prayer for you *He shall call upon me and I will answer him I will be with him in trouble I will deliver him and honour him. With long life I will satisy him and shew him my salvation. Be blessed in Jesus name. Amen
Dear David, I wondered if you had considered the “Hallelujah Acres” eating program to combat cancer & other diseases? They have a website of that name.
