Jacob said to his father, “I am Esau your firstborn; I have done just as you told me; please arise, sit and eat of my game, that your soul may bless me.”


This painful, destructive experience with husband, wife, and twin sons could’ve been avoided if Isaac and Rebekah had been communicating. Look at the mistakes. Rebekah listens in on a private conversation. She then plots dishonestly; she encourages Jacob to deceive and tell an outright lie. As a result, Esau is filled with hatred and contemplates murder. Jacob is forced to run away from home and his character is twisted and bent so badly that he spends years in deception and deceit. The lesson here must be this… Mom, Dad, Husband, Wife, communicate in Christian love and understanding. Are you working together with God to make your family truly blessed?

PRAYER FOR TODAY:

Dear God, please use this daily blog to teach me to listen to You as I read Your Word and then talk to You about what I’ve read. Good communication with You will make all the difference in my ability to communicate with my loved ones. Therefore, I throw myself on Your love and grace. Through the Name of the greatest Communicator, Jesus Christ, I pray. Amen!

It was at the Church of England in London where the “Alpha” course originated, Holy Trinity, Brompton, that I experienced most deeply the answer to the prayer I’ve just typed. While at the altar, the Lord showed me clearly that I had hurt Norma-Jean deeply. Until that moment, I was blissfully unaware of what I then realized was a truly stupid, uncaring action. It had happened shortly after our wedding. Without going into detail, immediately after my return to Canada, I humbly and honestly asked Norma-Jean’s forgiveness. I also repented before God. I pray fervently that I may communicate well and wisely with my beloved wife. The Apostle Peter, a married man whose wife accompanied him, according to Paul, wrote very wise words as found in 1st Peter, chapter 3. Please take time to read verses 1-7. In particular, verse seven has been a word from God to me. My prayers were being hindered by my insensitivity to my wife. That must never happen again.

  1. The weight of familial jealousy and sibling rivalry, as in today’s passage, is always destructive, and need be rooted out quickly before damage ensues. Praying David’s prayer. We are your continually repentant servants, God. We trust You Lord, for Your ways are always higher than our own. We praise You Jesus. Your love reigns in our spirits, hearts and souls. Your ways are higher than our own. Wishing all saints a blessed day in the Lord.

  2. Think how smoothly life would flow along ‘if’ everyone did not exaggerate or lie !
    Lies are like throwing sand into the machinery of society by binding up that machinery causing it to breakdown.Jesus left His followers here so that ‘His world’ within ‘the world’ would be freer from ‘the world’ as an example to follow.I wonder how many judges (for example) are Christian (or Jew),who are appointed and not elected but chosen for their moral qualities?(in Canada).Those are examples of Jesus living in them.God bless

  3. Dear Father, thank You for Your Word, Your Spirit, and Godly teachers who share You with us. Help us in turn share You with others. May Your Word go out freely, like the Lifeline it is, to those floundering in the currents of this cultural revolution. Open people’s eyes, ears, and hearts to see, hear, and know You for themselves. Bless and send out Your workers today, Lord, strengthened, refreshed and renewed in You. In Jesus’s great name, amen

  7. Please pray for me, I have recently lost my husband and I find myself in financial crisis. I need money by a deadline to keep from losing my home. Please pray for me

  9. it took me decades to figure out why do we lie! people would lie;parents lied;friends lied; they did not call it lying; just embellishing the conversation;……..well……one day it dawned on me……!!!!!>>>>!!>>>>>>????<>><>>%%%#%^@**
    God created the Earth and it was GOOD!
    Then God decided to put someone in the Garden to enjoy its beauty and He created Adam; and it was GOOD!
    Then God decided that man should not be alone and so He put Adam into a deep sleep and removed a rib and PRESTO, now we have a WOMAN, and she is part of the man…….
    it didn’t take but a few seconds and their opinions did not match and then jealously came and so did SIN…….
    I have spent hours talking to God about this issue; why could He not have put nothing but good into the man and woman HOWEVER that is not the way God works; He created us to have opinions; talents;stubborn personalities;He knew us before we were born; He knew us before Creation;
    God knew us before Creation and HE KNEW THAT WE WOULD NEED HELP;
    HE KNEW THAT WE WOULD FIGHT AND BE JEALOUS AND SIN LOTS AND HE PUT A PLAN IN MOTION BEFORE CREATION THAT HE WOULD BLESS A HUMAN BEING WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT AND A CHILD WOULD BE BORN OF GOD AND OF MAN.
    God put this plan into motion before Creation because God knew man then and now; we are by nature sinful and unclean BUT God would not leave us in that state so this Child that was born of Man and God would pay for all OUR SINS.
    It seems so unreal EXCEPT for the Bible, it states in the Beginning God created the world and all that is in it……
    I understand why people do not understand this whole issue……..for me I believe it because I do believe the Bible and we do have a God because I sure couldn’t crate this world and all its beauty by myself; quiet frankly I couldn’t even go one second without God’s Grace, which is God’s Riches at Christ;’s Expense, Thank you Lord, thank you in Jesus Name I Pray amen amen amen
