THE DREAM
Today’s Reading: Genesis 36-37

Key Verse: Genesis 37:28
Then Midianite traders passed by; so the brothers pulled Joseph up and lifted him out of the pit, and sold him to the Ishmaelites for twenty shekels of silver. And they took Joseph to Egypt.
In Chapter 36 we learn that Esau refused to waste his life in bitterness. God richly rewarded his generosity of spirit. Chapter 37 tells of the dreamer. Be sure not to let your guidance come from dreams; they are 99% unreliable. However, in this case, God had truly revealed His plan to Joseph. When we hear from God, most of the time we should keep it between God and ourselves. When Joseph told the story of his dream to his brothers, it brought about a serious family feud. Indeed, God has many ways to bring about His will. He used this tragedy to put Joseph in Egypt so he could be tested and refined and then to save many lives, including his father and his family.
PRAYER FOR TODAY:

On my morning walk I was thinking and talking to my Lord about putting together scrapbooks for my grandchildren of things and notes I have kept over the years. I was asking that my grandchildren would see Jesus and learn to love Him more through the beautiful memories He has blessed me with. Then I came in and read your blog for today. I’m going to get right at it. ~ Katie

P.S. Below is a “selfie” photo taken of my daughter Ellen and her husband Nizar Shaheen. On this occasion they were in Turkey meeting with local believers who have a radio station and who will be duplicating their Arabic Light for All Nations productions into Turkish and Farsi. More about the ministry of LFAN here. Let’s remember to pray for the coup situation happening in Turkey right now.
Lord may we always be faithful in listening to your voice and focusing on your righteous path. May we never stray from this path, help us always as we walk in You this day and always, we pray, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
Amen!
Amen Scott
Yes, God bless the ministry of Nizar and Ellen, Light For All Nations which reaches very difficult regions and countries. I have been watching the Coup in Turkey and see this morning, much more bloodshed. One encouragement today; the large prayer meeting that is going on in the States. I join my heart with them for a move of God. God bless you David and saints!
Joining Geraldine in prayer for the large gathering in Washington D.C. today. May the Lord give all of us grace and mercy.
An encouragement for Katie–do make those scrapbooks for your grandchildren. While working on the albums you can pray for your loved one!
Yes let us continue to pray for the countries of Canada, United States, pray for the people in Turkey, praise of glory to all those who are praying in big groups in different places around the world!
I am needing some help. I am looking for the book GOD”S PROMISES FOR LIFE but I only know the author’s first name; Jeremy, I wonder if anyone might know the last name? Thanks
Nice picture of Nizar and Ellen! God be with them as they proclaim the Gospel to those around them!
There is always one especially crucial tidbit of learned wisdom gained in each scripture reading and message from our study. “Esau refused to waste his life in bitterness. God richly rewarded his generosity of spirit.” I think of how many years I have been stunted from bitterness; holding onto hurt from others’ hateful words and actions. And yet I have the potential to fly as free as an eagle and be blessed so abundantly by God’s graciousness and love for me when I simply let go and trust in following Him. “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jer 29:11 NIV Truly, when we believe in God and live according to His Word and under His guidance, we will spread the seeds of His Kingdom and enjoy a fruitful life, just as Esau did. What a wonderful example God has given us to live by in Genesis 36. Amen.
Amen, Beverlee!
