Key Verse: Genesis 24:58
Then they called Rebekah and said to her, “Will you go with this man?” And she said, “I will go.”
Sarah, Isaac’s mother, had passed away three years earlier. No doubt Isaac was lonely. In fulfillment of God’s promise to Abraham, it was necessary that Abraham become a grandfather to Isaac’s children. God’s purposes in the human family are developed by human co-operation. So Abraham’s right-hand man travelled from present-day Israel, through Jordan and Iraq to Kuwait (Mesopotamia) to find family and a bride for Isaac. What a beautiful story of God’s choice…a faithful servant, an amazing young woman (watering those camels was not an easy task), and willing parents. The words, “The camels are coming” (verse 63), speak to the fact that people, even animals, may do God’s will if they make the right choice.
PRAYER FOR TODAY:
Father God, just as the faithful servant worshipped You every time another step was taken in fulfilling Your plan, so I worship You for Your will being done in and through me. Amen!
May I suggest that we all pray the “Our Father,” or as it is known, “The Lord’s prayer” (Matthew 6:9-13)?
100 PERSONAL WORDS:
There are sermons that I’ve heard which I’ve never forgotten. One was by Rev. Anders Nisbel, assistant to Lutheran Bishop, Martin Lonebo of Linshepping, Sweden. Anders was a student at our Crossroads School of Broadcasting and Communications in Toronto. I team-preached with Bishop Lonebo in Sweden and he spoke of the absolute necessity of using TV for Jesus’ message. In his message to our staff, Anders said, “Have you ever met a camel? They smell bad. They have a bad temper. They can be unpredictable, and they never forget. They are like television, it may be a big challenge, but we must ride the camels. The reason Christian North Africa became Islamic was that the Muslim missionaries were on camels winning the desert tribes to Mohammed, and the Christians were comfortable in their coastal cities, unconcerned about those in the interior who did not know Christ.” I say, “Let’s get on those camels and ride.” (Our School of Broadcasting now has graduates in over 80 countries).
Yours for all our grads and those who have gone through our Intern program at Crossroads,
David
NIV 24:42 “When I came to the spring today, I said, ‘Lord, God of my master Abraham, if you will, please grant success to the journey on which I have come.”
I was really struck today by the faithfulness and obedience of Abraham’s servant. He was given a detailed plan on what he should do, and he followed it through to a “T”. Even his prayer was a positive affirming prayer, he believed in God, he was observant and he was obedient. God answered his prayer, as the servant knew He would, and his journey was a success. Oh that we as Christians today might have the same trust and obedience in all that we endeavor to do, if it be within the will of God.
Exactly Scott. God’s plans are perfect. Help us to hear Your Voice, Lord, and to know Your direction.
Amen! lord i need answers of my solitude and no friends!
I’m waiting patiently and hoping you have heard me the first time ,but need to wait maybe on the 41 days as the invited man who is talking daily on Croosroads .
Thank you David Mainse for your trust and belief on God!!!!
You inspired me .
The camels are coming, amen! Such beautiful scripture, this morning. We rejoice and worship You, our Heavenly Father, Lord Saviour and King, our Messiah, Jesus Christ, and to the sanctity of the Holy Spirit. For all the praise and honour and glory be Yours, amen, amen, and amen! Saints, let us pray for the unrest in the United States, where recent unwarranted, racist police shootings of African American men, has brought on a revolt and hostile murdering of police officers. Racism guns murder hatred anger and violence is overtaking US soil. None of it is right in the eyes of the Lord or man. There is madness in the land and hands of those who own guns. Let us pray for peace on earth as it is in heaven. Blessings dearest saints in the Lord.
“Heal me, O Lord, and I shall be healed;
save me, and I shall be saved, for you are my praise.”

My favorite verse in this story is the last one, “and he loved her” las act could have taken Rebekah as his wife in obedience and the necessity to have children, but God gave him a lover too!

David,
for many months now , it has been on my heart, that you ask Mary, Mother of Jesus, to speak to you. Please consider it.
Mary, the mother of Jesus, no doubt, was a wonderful woman and we honour her. But I must say that nowhere in the bible are we ever asked to pray to Mary. We are only to pray to our Heavenly Father in the name of Jesus Christ. We must only follow what we are taught to do. The Bible is our only source of truth which we must follow. Jesus said,”Whatsoever you ask of the Father in My name . . .”
God Bless you.. Margaret!
THANK YOU LORD AND WE PRAISE YOU FOR THE MIRACLE YOU GAVE TO RACHEL! WHAT A BLESSING, WHAT A GREAT CELEBRATION PRAISING THE LORD! OUR LORD GOD IS A GOD OF HEALING, OF RESTORATION, OUR LORD GOD HAS THE WHOLE WORLD IN HIS HANDS!
YES, FORGIVE US LORD FOR ALL THE UNREST IN THE WORLD! WE KNOW AND WE ASK THAT YOU WOULD GIVE US THE COURAGE TO STEP OUT AND SHARE THE LOVE OF JESUS CHRIST WITH ALL THE PEOPLE. GIVE US THE RIGHT TIMING, THE RIGHT WORDS, THANK YOU LORD IN JESUS NAME WE PRAY AMEN
I don’t comment often because I like to speak my mind, whether controversial or not. However, I want to share my pleasure at the humour of comparing a good christian’s life to riding a smelly camel. I think it is true.
