Key Verse: 2 Kings 3:15
But now bring me a musician.
PRAYER FOR TODAY:
Lord God, I sing unto You “a new song.” I pray for Your Holy Spirit to fill me with the refreshing water of life. You said, Lord Jesus, “If anyone is thirsty, let him come to Me and drink” (John 7:37). I’m doing that just now as I worship You. My spiritual thirst is being quenched. Thank You, Jesus!
100 PERSONAL WORDS:
I’m blessed to support several missions projects. “Streams in the Desert” is one where, in the Turkana area of Northern Kenya, drought is cyclical. Crossroads, through people here in the west (you and me), is drilling wells, and the electricity to operate the pumps is supplied through a great many solar cell panels. These pumps are pouring water onto a dry, thirsty land (check out the latest news on this project – click here).
This past Sunday we celebrated mothers! I’ve been so very blessed by the music of the mother of my four children. In the churches I pastored, she played piano or organ and led choirs. I was reading my diary from January 2, 1963. Here’s some of what I read: “We measured the children and weighed them. Elaine, 3′ 5″ and 40 lbs – Ellen, 3′ and 30 lbs – Reynold 2′ 8″ and 29 lbs. Norma-Jean is 3 and 1/2 months pregnant and weighs ???” (I’m being careful here). I love you, mother of my children. X0 X0! Ron arrived on May 29th, 1963, in the Deep River hospital. Ann, the mother of Ron’s three children, also gave birth to their daughter Andrea on May 29th, 1986. Andrea is now married to Rev. Jason Patterson, and she is a PhD student and a new mother herself.
Happy Mother’s Day to all you who have biological children and all women who celebrate the greatest motherhood of all and are spiritual mothers to children everywhere!
Yours because of “MOTHERS,”
David
P.S. Here’s a link I found on You Tube to a beautiful rendition of “Sing Unto the Lord” by a lovely couple. I believe they are from India (click here). You may have to endure an automobile commercial before the song, but it’s worth waiting for.
Their music was beautiful I feel the presence of God around me now
as they did. I am praying the same prayer as you did David I need
it. May God be with everyone on our blog, and will keep you in my prayers
Lianne Hogg
Hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah! I am with you Lianne, I feel the presence of the Lord around me, as well. Beautiful song and praise! Wishing all saints a blessed day!
Also a Happy Mothers Day to all the Mothers who have adopted children because they were not able to have biological children. As well, to all the Step Mothers who have raised other people’s children as their own!
I don’t understand David’s comment about “biological” children only. Spiritually we all raise the villages children.
I agree. It was unusual. Biological “Mothers Day”? Must be a misprint.
David Mainse must also be thinking of his adopted grandchildren when making this statement.
From my understanding he was Wishing all Mothers a Happy Mothers Day whether they were biological mothers or not.
“Happy Mother’s Day to all you who have biological children and all women who celebrate the greatest motherhood of all and are spiritual mothers to children everywhere!”
Praise God He is faithful in all His ways; He is our defense in time of trouble:
Johoshaphat called on Him and He answered and came to their defense, even though the king of Israel was there too.
He is our shield and buckler, the ever present help in trouble.
I will Glorify the Lord at all times, for He is worthy of all praise, for ever and ever, Amen!!!
Thank you Father for Your Great Love for us, In Jesus Name I pray, Amen!!!
What a blessing that song…thank you!!
Thank you, David and Team for your insight in using TV for child support. I saw the effects in Calcutta at the Mark Buntain Hospital while on a WVC project tour in ’79. As a WV rep, I participated in the 1st 4 hour telethon for WV in Vanc. BC
What God has wrought! Praise Him!!
