HOLINESS UNTO THE LORD

Today’s Reading: Exodus 28

Click scripture link to read online or HERE to listen online (then click the symbol of the audio speaker above the scripture portion on the right-hand side).

In this full-sized replica of the Old Testament Tabernacle, which was on exhibit at the Crossroads Centre in Burlington, Ontario, the High Priest places blood from the sacrifice onto the horns of the altar on behalf of the people (yesterday's blog makes reference to these horns).

Key Verse: Exodus 28:36

You shall also make a plate of pure gold and engrave on it, like the engraving of a signet: HOLINESS TO THE LORD.

The clothing of the high priest was designed by God, Himself. The symbolism is powerful. Jesus Christ is our High Priest. He is the personification of “Holiness to the Lord.” He is “The High Priest of our confession, Christ Jesus” (Hebrews 3:1). In the book of Hebrews, He is called our High Priest seven times. We need to take the time to read Hebrews 2:17 right through to Hebrews 10:22 (click here). That is a big assignment, but I guarantee you’ll learn to value the work of Jesus more than ever. Like the epaulets on the shoulders of the Hebrew high priest, He presents our names before God, not just from time to time but continually. His primary occupation is that “He ever lives to make intercession” (Hebrews 7:25). John writes, “If any man sins, we have an Advocate (lawyer for the defense) with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous” (1 John 2:1).

PRAYER FOR TODAY:

Lord Jesus, I thank You with all my being for representing me before the Father. Thank You, God, for receiving the blood of the sacrifice of Your Son, Jesus, on my behalf. It’s beyond me to fully comprehend Your love, grace and mercy. I can only give myself here and now once again to You. When I pray, “In Jesus’ Name,” I have a new understanding of what is really taking place. IN JESUS’ NAME, Amen!

100 PERSONAL WORDS:

Dr. Charles Rolls was often a guest on 100 Huntley Street when in his nineties. One day, at 97, he showed up at our studio in downtown Toronto fully dressed in the garb of the High Priest. He had sewn the entire outfit with his own hands, put it on, and proceeded on the subway from North York to mid-town. I can’t imagine what the people on the train thought. He told them he was a guest later that morning on TV and was teaching about the role of the Hebrew High Priest. He departed this life at 99. I had a big celebration planned for his 100th birthday. Instead, we celebrated his passing on to glory. His series of books on the Names of Jesus are amazing (you might find one or more copies of his six-volume set on Amazon.com…try starting here). I realize once again that I (you too) am called to be a priest in the sense that when I pray for someone, I am representing them to God (1 Peter 2:5 & 9, Revelation 1:6).

Yours for a greater understanding of the ministry of Jesus, as well as our personal ministries,

David

  1. I did a study of JESUS Name over the internet for 2 yrs. It was by a lady and a different name & supporting scriptures each day (one name per week). You didn’t mention the two stones with the stange names. I knew what they were (from the 1st Tabernacle at Crossroads but I can’t recall them at the moment). Have a great day

  2. I haven’t recieved your blog yesterday or today (aug28&29) by e-mail
I look forward to it every day and maybe some others may have the same problem.

    • Mine didn’t come through today either. This is not the first time this has happened. However, I have learned to go to the last one that I received and click on to where you can leave a comment… the scripture reading for today shows up along with DM message.

Have a blessed day blog friends…

  3. Amen! Every time we read these scriptures, there is new light and revelation. It’s a learning process. Our Lord gives us understanding by His Holy Spirit. His strength and blessings, to all!

The previous blogs will follow. OR; see the previous dates along the right side as you scroll down.

  5. I have not received my 100 Words email for August 28 and August 29. Am I still on the mailing list for 100 Words blog?

  6. You also, as living stones, are being built up a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. 1 Pet 2:5

I just love this scripture–the metaphor is enlightening and envelopes us all as Christian workers. We are living stones being built into a spiritual house. We are the platform and foundation of the rock on which the Word and Spirit of our Lord lives, and grows higher off the earthly ground, towards the heavenly realm. All for the glory of God! Amen!

Saints, please pray for the perfect change to my living situation. With 15 stairs, I have to

    • find something more suitable due to my back condition and upcoming surgery. I trust God completely that it will work out. I give thanks for your added prayers on my behalf. And thank you for being there as part of the rock on which I stand. God bless each and every one of you!

      • Part of my morning quiet time with the Lord includes prayer for healing for family, friends, and blog friends. Our precious Lord Jesus Christ hears our cries and heals us in His Timing.

        Praise God! Amen!

    • Prayer is the answer, indeed. I thank You, Lord, God, Creator of heaven and earth, as I pray for your divine intervention in my housing situation. I trust in You and have total faith all will be well. I give You all the praise and glory. Amen!

      • Dear sister Beverlee ,
Heavenly Father, I give to you my sister in Christ , I thank you in advance for your divine intervention IN THE NAME OF THE ONE AND ONLY BEGOTTEN SON JESUS CHRIST, OUR PRECIOUS MESSIAH, HEALER.
        ALL FOR YOUR GLORY ,
        AMEN.
        XOXOXO Carole.
Like David loewen keeping you and all the bloggers in my daily prayers.

  7. This is a prayer I found in a missal— I adapted it a bit, but it is one I say often when I do my formal prayers. I find saying prayers written and said by Christians throughout the ages useful– it like keeping a prayer thread alive that has been going on for a long time. As long as I stay mindful of the words, to keep formal prayers from sounding mechanical or remote, formal prayers can play a important role in our prayer life. Anyway this one seemed to fit with what we are studying, so for those who might know this one I thought I would shared it. Have a good day everyone.

Thank you Lord Jesus for consenting to become man, for passing nine months in the womb of a virgin and for willing to be born in a poor stable.
Thank you Lord Jesus for working in the sweat of Your brow.
Thank you Lord Jesus for suffering a painful passion, for hanging on the Cross for three hours and for dying in ignominy on it.
Thank you Lord Jesus who from that Cross endured my sins so they could be forgiven.
Thank you Lord Jesus for ascending to heaven to prepare a place for me and for being my Advocate with the Father.
And thank you Lord Jesus for residing day and night in the tabernacle of my heart.

    Amen.

  8. I still get the blog via email but I prefer to go to http://www.100words.ca as I can adjust the print size easily. The scripture portion has that feature but the prayer/comments don’t adjust on my tablet. The government made some changes recently that you had to reply to a sender’s request to receive. Maybe this is prob?

  9. As I read the scripture…it is evident that no detail is unimportant to what God wants done, and the importance of following God’s instructions in every detail for His purposes to be fulfilled.

  10. Thank you Reynold for the beautiful pictures…the vivid colours of the Priest’s garment…and the altar…and the horns on the altar.

This replica gives us a small glimpse of what the original must have been like!!

  11. Thank you Rev. David for the powerful prayer…I prayed it too…and for the scriptures you included to remind us that we are Priests too as we pray for others…living stones, precious in God’s sight.
How comforting to know that Jesus is our Advocate and prays for us daily!!!

    God Bless your day, AMEN.

  12. May God bless each and everyone of us this fine day.
Off to the Yukon and Alaska for a couple of weeks. Hope to get some great pics but unfortunately can’t show them here.
    Blessings.

    • Dear sister Lynda,

Have a fabulous time in Alaska , i wish I was a little bird following this wonderful trip.
May The Lord keep you safe under His wings as you enjoy His Majestic creation.
      All for His Glory.
      IN JESUS PRECIOUS NAME, AMEN.
      XOXOXO Carole.

      • Thank you Carole…….very kind. Wish u could come along too. Wish everyone could. Taking my tablet so hope to receive study each day. God bless wi-fi technology:-)

  13. Dear Rev. David Mainse,
Thank you so much for your personal prayer , that I once again have the previlige of reciting as my own.
The little homework that you gave us today is so worth reading , I actually suggest all the bloggers not to miss Gods wonderful Message.

Have a great and blessed labour day weekend, everyone.
    God bless you all.
    xoxoxo Carole

  14. What an awesome privilege and responsibility to be a royal priesthood when we represent our loved ones and friends before God in prayer! Also Lord lead our sister Beverlee into the right place for her to live at this time. In Jesus Name. Amen. You are faithful, Lord. Thank you David for your prayers and comments.
