Key Verse: Zephaniah 1:6
Those who have turned back from following the Lord,
And have not sought the Lord, nor inquired of Him.
Zephaniah is the great-grandson of King Hezekiah. Hezekiah led in calling the people back to the true God. But the king’s son, King Manasseh, reintroduced the worship of Molech (“Milcom” – 2 Chronicles 33:1-10), and Hezekiah’s grandson, King Ammon, continued the pagan practises (2 Chronicles 33:21-25). Ammon’s son, King Josiah, picked up from His great-grandfather, Hezekiah, and reformation and revival took place (2 Chronicles 34:29-33). So this makes Zephaniah and King Josiah second cousins. No doubt the ministry of Zephaniah was a big factor in the repentance before God, which began six years into Josiah’s reign and continued for about 25 years.
Zephaniah’s preaching and teaching is centred on the judgment which Judah will bring on itself if they fail to repent! He uses the word “day” 11 times in this first chapter. The Judgment Day is coming. Zephaniah, his cousin, King Josiah, and their generation were spared from the “trouble,” the “distress,” the “devastation,” and the “desolation” which would come later, after Josiah’s death, in the destruction of the Temple and Jerusalem by the Babylonian King Nebuchadnezzar.
Let us NOT “turn back from following the Lord!” Let us NOT turn back from seeking the Lord and inquiring of Him!!! This blog is designed to help us SEEK and INQUIRE!
PRAYER FOR TODAY:
Lord God, I seek You today. Lord Jesus, You said, “Seek and you shall find!” (Matthew 7:7). I pray for persistence and consistency in inquiring of You, learning of You through daily reading Your Word, meditating on Your Word, and praying constantly for grace to apply Your Word to my life. I pray for this with all my heart in the Name of the One Who is in Himself the full expression of what You have to say to Your human family, the Living Word, Jesus Christ! Amen!!!
100 PERSONAL WORDS:
[NOTE: This was originally written by David on April 21, 2016]
It will be four years on June 3rd, 2016, since I started this daily two-year journey through the written “Word.” On June 3rd, God willing, I plan to continue for another two years, beginning in Matthew’s Gospel, moving to Genesis, Mark, Exodus, and so on. It will continue to be fresh bread every morning with God, the Holy Spirit, as the Fire which bakes the bread. I’m up like a good baker, mix the ingredients, put them in the oven of prayer. The bread comes out of the oven at 6 a.m. and is put on a shelf for you to pick up (via the the Internet). I need help to advertise this bakery. Please tell others where to find this fresh bread. You can email or post on Facebook the link to www.100words.ca. Thank you for spreading the word!
Yours for fresh bread every day!!!
David
P.S. Speaking of fresh bread, the most delicious bread that I love to eat in Jerusalem is pictured below…big, soft bagels! You will find many street vendors like this man pushing his cart-load of bagels around the Old City!
Thank you so much, again Ron and family, for continuing this blog when your dad didn’t quite make it to six years-and three complete 2-year journeys-through the entire Bible. I hope it can still continue somehow.
Amen Eleanor C…Yes, I agree for it to continue…thank you Ron and Anne!
I pray it continues as well.
Thank you so much! I so enjoy reading this blog, even though I may not be consistent, I still enjoy seeing it it my mailbox every morning! Bless you all for this! I love my fresh bread every morning! ❤️????????
Me too, Linda!
Thank you Ron, for already having stated you will continue 100words for another two year run—everyone appreciates it. It provides a steady bible study guide each morning and time with our Lord. I find myself referencing David’s teachings in my bible studies at church, and often share the photos with captions, which add to prove the truth of the Bible—Old and New Testaments. I can’t imagine life without a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, our Messiah. Wishing all saints a blessed day in the Lord. Is it really warming up?
For you make me glad by your deeds, Lord;
I sing for joy at what your hands have done.

Amen Beveree …also thank you for the link..Yes, HOW GREAT IS OUR GOD!!
yes Beverlee Kay, you speak for thousands….
every day is a miracle, God loves Me, unconditional love! He LOVES all people, you only have to ask Him to come live inside of your heart, just that easy!
Life will still be a daily journey, but He walks with us every step, He is always with us, He has said in His Word, that He will never leave nor forsake us!
I suffer with a very serious illness, people will have to forgive me when I ask for daily prayer!
I need God’s help right now, need a financial breakthrough to clear debts,, etc, fix a fence!
I would like someone to rent the back room, I pray the Lord will hand pick me the right person….perhaps someone who works night shift and maybe their sleep pattern will fit in with my sleep disorder, Lord I need Your help in Jesus Name I Pray amen
I don’t know what I would do without the blog. (As I was typing this, the suggestion that popped up wanted me to put “snow” instead of blog)!! No way! Love the blog & would like it to keep going. Thanks all (family & bloggers).
Oh yes Ron, thank you for being willing to share the Word for another two years. For sure it will add structure, knowledge and spiritual blessing to our lives and others. We need this discipline in these troublesome times and last days. May God bless you. This announcement must have been on yesterday. Loved that poem yesterday Irene and your information Beverlee and Carol.
Thank you Ron for carrying on what your father started. It is a routine I look forward to every morning.
Blessings fellow readers.

Lianne Hogg
I was thinking the same thing, Lianne! Cinnamon and raisin are my favourite, too—spread with cream cheese.
Thankful for this daily reading the Word of God. May your ministry with married couples be blessed, Ron and Anne.
I LIKE Da ids bread and Holy Spirit analogy ! ????
In agreement with all bloggers…Yes, thank you Ron and Anne continuing this daily bread. I like the way David included in his “Personal words” re fresh bread every morning. It reminded me of when my Mother would bake a fresh batch, how delicious it was!!
Ps 118.24
“This is the day the Lord has made.
