Today’s Reading: Jeremiah 16-17

The Arch of Titus in Rome was constructed in 82 AD by the Roman Emperor Domitian shortly after the death of his older brother Titus to commemorate Titus’ victory in the Sack of Jerusalem in 70 AD (note the extra photo below of the inside of the Arch). The Arch of Titus has provided the general model for many of the triumphal arches erected since the 16th century, including the famous Arc de Triomphe in Paris, France. In the P.S. today is the description of the destruction of Jerusalem according to the Jewish historian, Josephus. The Roman historian, Tacitus, also covers this massacre of Jewish people and the rape of the Temple. It’s not unlike what must have happened to Jerusalem when it was destroyed by the Babylonians hundreds of years earlier as prophesied by Jeremiah.

The heart is deceitful above all things,
And desperately wicked;
Who can know it?
…Heal me, O Lord, and I shall be healed; save me and I shall be saved, for You are my praise!
Heart disease is our #1 killer physically. Same thing spiritually! Jeremiah diagnosed the human heart as deceitful and desperately wicked. Is there a guaranteed healing prescription? Can this terminal heart condition be healed?
The ultimate heart healing treatment is this…Romans 10:8-10. The word “heart” is repeated three times in that passage. It’s an oral medication. You take it by mouth! Speak these words out loud or even whisper them. That gets God’s Word down into our hearts. Healing and wholeness follows. Now, having ingested God’s healing medicine, let’s do as the last words of our key verses instruct us: “You [Almighty God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ] are my [our] praise!”
PRAYER FOR TODAY:
Lord God, Your Word declares that You “inhabit the praises of [Your people!] Israel!” (Psalm 22:3b). I pray that I will learn more and more to use Scripture in my praise of You! As I do this, I know that I am inhabiting the realm of Your Presence! I’m singing now the glorious hymn of praise, “I Will Praise Him!” (click here for the Messianic Jewish family — believers in Jesus — The Isaacs singing this hymn). Let us praise God together!!! 100 PERSONAL WORDS:
It can be discouraging to read Jeremiah because of his prophecies of woe. I heard a preacher on the local Christian radio station say, “When God says, ‘Woe,’ it means, Whoa!” That’s horse language for STOP!!!” Good advice?
I debated whether or not to quote the Jewish historian Josephus in his description of the next destruction of Jerusalem after the one prophesied by Jeremiah. There are probably similarities in both destructions of the city which the religious and political leaders brought on themselves. When God is not wanted and when He withdraws as a result, all hell breaks loose. This quote is from 70 A.D., after thousands of Christian Jews had left Jerusalem, as they were warned in a prophecy to escape. In case you don’t want to read of such horror, I’ll put it in a post script.
Yours for ingesting God’s Word and inhabiting, as God does, the PRAISE SPACE!!!

Josephus, a Jew, was in Jerusalem under the protection of the future Roman Emperor Titus when he wrote, “You would have thought the hill on which the Temple stood was boiling from the bottom upwards, that everywhere was a mass of flames, that here lay a sea of blood deeper than the fire, that there were more killed than killers. You could not see a single piece of ground anywhere because it was so thickly covered with bodies, forcing the soldiers to climb over them in order to reach further victims.”
Inside the Arch of Titus in Rome, one side depicts the Roman soldiers removing the menorah, table of showbread and silver trumpets from the Temple as it was destroyed in AD 70.

It’s a good day to be by the fire in the middle of what they now call a snow storm.The sleet seems to be winning over the salt laid by the salt trucks.
I saw great hope when Mr trump decided to run for President even though I did not know then that he was a Christian.When our “O’Bamma” came to power I knew Canada had to go through the same cycle and we are left waiting for a Christian to step up at the next election.Satan hates Trump and the detestable desperation of his opponents make that clear.We should all praise God for that unexpected turn of events and pray for the same miracle in Canada.People,intelligent people,are seeing through this deceptive mask of “political correctness” (‘When wrong is made to s-e-e-m right’) which is the current smoke screen the enemy of man is using and once Canada is won back,the rest of the former Christian world will take heart and follow….or emigrate to a ‘Christian camp’ or to Israel.
Sorry,I got carried away.Like my poems,the thoughts just kept coming.Thanks to David’s (The poem burst through right here.) guidance I have learned a lot and hope wisdom will be the result.

I am disturbed by your comments about Donald Trump, Bill, and wish people would keep political views off this blog. I hold myself accountable to that, as well. It is a Christian daily bible study by David Mainse and is disrespectful to his memory. Not everyone loves Donald Trump; certainly a vast majority of Canadians dislike him. He doesn’t talk or act like a Christian. I have never heard him say the Name Jesus or speak as a Child of God. In fact Trump’s racist and sexist comments speak the opposite. His sexual acts of abuse against women, brag to it, and his racist acts against people in the States, fail to come across as a Christian who loves his neighbour.

I don’t know what God has planned for Mr. Trump! One thing I have realized is that many more people are praying than in the past! That is a good thing!

Scripture tells us to pray for our leaders! The Word also tells us to pray for our neighbours!
God knows all of our leaders, He has a plan for salvation for ALL mankind and His plan will come to be regardless of how the leaders act and believe!
Please pray for our governments to realize what their priorities are and that is to care for children, the elderly and those who cannot do/care for themselves! That is how God wants His People to treat others. Many people in Canada have lots of money and would like to do some good with their funds; Mental Health in your community could sure use some financial help!
Whatever you donate to make sure that the funds will go for the people and not for high salaries! God’s Word says to be wise with your money.
We praise and thank God for all the blessings He has given us today!

This isn’t a website; It’s a Bible study. The focus needs to stay on Jesus, which was David Mainse’ point of starting it–to get people reading the Word everyday.
David Mainse was very smart! God lead him to do this Bible study knowing full well that it would around the world to be read by every person who so desired to read this part of Scripture and it is translated into many languages which again, is a gift from God!
I’ve told many people to go on the website of 100 Huntley Street and find the daily devotion……I praise and thank God that He made all this possible all because someone had a dream!
Let us celebrate the goodness of the media today and the gifts and talents of those who put these programs together to get them out into the world for all to hear and read.

Great photos and powerful prayer, and words of wisdom. Yes, Jeremiah is not the easiest scripture to digest, but they are the Word of God: The Lord’s pain for the children who turn from him to other gods; and Our Lord’s great love for his children!! Praise His Holy Name!!!

Our lovely country is drifting far from God. Jeremiah warned the people of his day to turn back to the Lord. I think that message is very relevant to Canada under the “progessive” (which really means secular humanist) leadership of Trudeau, Wynne, Notley et al.
Lord God, please wake up your people and help us to stand for You and against the willful deception of our age. In Jesus’s great and unchanging name, amen
I agree with you Rob and did not know much about Trump outside politics.I don’t watch TV or listen to the radio so I am not well informed.I do believe the Lord told me that He has chosen Trump to ‘do His will’.
I will not get into a debate and was surprised at the negative response.
