Key Verse: Leviticus 10:11
…and that you may teach the children of Israel all the statutes which the Lord has spoken to them by the hand of Moses.
In today’s reading, we learn about the conduct of the priests and the judgment of God on misconduct. There are most serious consequences to the failure to follow God’s instructions, particularly for those whose calling is in leadership. The priests were not to drink any intoxicating beverages. Why? They must be fully aware at all times in order to distinguish right from wrong, the holy from the unholy, and the clean from the unclean, so that they could, by example as well as words, teach the people God’s ways. How often have God’s leaders and followers alike, lost our ability to discern what is right and then do it. The book of James should be regular reading for us, not just when our reading schedule requires it. It’s the New Testament book of Christian conduct. Consider the purpose of the Law for those who believe in Jesus… Read Galatians 3:23-27.
PRAYER FOR TODAY:
Thank You, Lord God, that I live in the time when I know Your grace, and I am justified by faith, not by the works of the Law. May I never take careless advantage of Your forgiveness, but may I live “With the smile of Your approval on my life.” In Jesus’ Name. Amen!
100 PERSONAL WORDS:
I had the honour of interviewing the Hon. Joseph R. Smallwood, Premier of Newfoundland, and one of our Fathers of Canadian Confederation. He said, “I don’t drink alcoholic beverages because I may be just one drink away from becoming an alcoholic, and I don’t wish to take the chance of destroying my life and hurting everyone around me.” At 15 years old in the United Church in Brockville, I went forward to the front and signed a pledge that I would not partake of intoxicating drinks throughout my life. It was at what was called, “a temperance service.” I’ve never been sorry I did this. Keeping that promise has enabled me to minister with integrity to many alcoholics and those who were chemically dependent. I had a great-great-grandfather who was an alcoholic. He lost the farm and simply disappeared. His only known son, my great-grandfather, Joseph Mainse, was converted to Christ at a Methodist Church, and that changed the entire direction of my family.
Yours for knowing right from wrong and the holy from the unholy,
David
Yes, the Dead Sea Scrolls are proof of God’s written Word. Amen. Awesome photo, Reynold. Praise God for your great grandfather, Joseph Mainse, David, and for you tracing his footsteps. What a legacy you have created and all the saints who have followed. In Jesus’ Name, amen. Blessing to all on this rainy day.
The LORD will give strength unto his people; the LORD will bless his people with peace. Psalm 29:11 KJB

Pastor David, Glad you are getting out of hospital tomorrow.
I have had my hip surgery on Friday just after noon, and I came home yesterday!!
I have had very little pain and I was able to do the steps and walk very well. Thank you for your prayers.
I would like to ask for prayer for my daughter, she left the hospital around 6:00p.m. Friday and was hit from behind by a man, who had no insurance and who left the scene of the accident. When the police found him he was drunk. Jane has a bad whiplash, went to emergency, but her pain medication is not helping, she has a Doctors appointment this afternoon.
Thank you for your prayers for us. Mary.
Mary, I am agreeing in prayer for your daughter Jane. Lord Jesus I pray for your intervention on behalf of Jane; for your relieving her of the pain: For wisdom for the doctor during her appointment.
Lord I also pray for the man who hit her: Lord that if he does not know you, that he would repent of his actions and his heart be open to receive you Jesus.
TY Lord for all the blessings of this day! TY Lord that You spared Jane’s life! Lord You have something much bigger for her to do in this life! Help her to heal, get her all the doctors she needs to heal completely!
Lord the driver needs help! He has many issues, trying to mask the pain by drinking! Then he has an accident! Lord help him!
Thank you Lord that no one died! This accident happened for a reason! You go to great lengths to get our attention Lord! Thank you Lord for this prayer blog! Let us continue to uphold this family and pray for full recovery of Jane! TY Lord!
Agreed with you in prayer this morning Pastor David!!
Once again that you for your words of wisdom: emphasizing the importance of “knowing right from wrong and the holy from the unholy”!!! and staying sober and alert at all times!!
What as promise we have!! “For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus. For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ” Galatians 3:26-27
“For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. Ephesians 2:8-9
I’m hoping and believing that you are out of hospital and in the comfort of your home with your faithful and lovely Norma-Jean at your side:)
Blessings to all saints on this beautiful day!
Thank you Reynold for the awesome photo of the “Dead Sea Scrolls” including your comments that go with it:)
I have been trying to watch today’s 100 Huntley St. on the Internet. (Oct. 3/16) The sound quits at about 15 minutes, and the rest of the hour has no sound. I don’t know if others have had this experience today. The first 15 minutes have sound. I really wanted to watch it tonight, as I only saw the first half on Global this morning.
Also, David, I’m glad you are able to go home tomorrow.
You have probably heard that Nabeel Qureshi has stage 4 stomach cancer. He has just started chemo. He got the diagnosis on August 23rd, the 10th anniversary of his conversion to Christ. We are praying for him too.
I am so humbled by what the Lord did for me 21 years ago! My friend Eva spoke these Words “We have the Holy Spirit that enables us to do more than we ever dreamt!” that was April 16, 1995 and those Words released me from smoking & drinking! Never touched either since that time!
On April 26, 1995 I broke my leg and God turned that into me learning to swim!
It is that same friend Eva who now has cancer, had surgery and I have asked for prayers for total healing for her! She also has a severe mental illness, she lived in my town years ago; then moved up north and then moved back home.
in my opinion smoking should not be allowed in public anywhere, not on the sidewalks, beaches, parks, not anywhere at all.
If a person must smoke, do it at home, it is so sad when you see what the lungs look like after only one year of smoking! GASTLY!!!!!!! BLACK, STARTING TO BECOME HARD AS A PIECE OF COAL
