Key Verse: 2 Kings 8:19
Yet the Lord would not destroy Judah, for the sake of His servant David, as He promised him to give a lamp to him and his sons forever.
PRAYER FOR TODAY:
Lord Jesus, You light up my life. I pray for grace to always walk in the light as You are in the light (1 John 1:7). In Your bright and shining Name I pray, Amen!
100 PERSONAL WORDS:
I’ll never forget the morning that Debbie Boone appeared on 100 Huntley Street in the late 80’s. Her hit song “You Light Up My Life” had been at the top of the pop charts. She was in Toronto in a stage production where she was playing the part of Maria Von Trapp in “The Sound of Music.” As we entered into our prayer time before going to air, Debbie sobbed, saying to the Lord, “It’s been so long, so long Lord.” She was experiencing the presence of the Lord in our Green Room as we knelt in prayer, and with her busy schedule, even though she knew Jesus as her Saviour, she had not taken the time to let His Light permeate her daily experience. I trust I’m not being too repetitive when I write again…Jesus changes everything! I pray again, “Lord Jesus, I throw open the blinds that hide or dim Your Light. I see You Jesus! Shine Jesus shine!” As the Scriptures say, “But we see Jesus who was made a little lower than the angels, for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour, that He, by the grace of God, might taste death for everyone” (Hebrews 2:9).
Yours for Jesus our “Lamp,”
David
P.S. Here’s a video of Debbie Boone when she came back to 100 Huntley Street in the mid-90’s. At the beginning of the interview with Lorna Dueck (after she sings), Debbie shares who she was thinking of each time she sang “You Light Up My Life” (click here).
Psalm 119:105 “Your word is a lamp to my feet, And a light to my path.”
The cross is a lightening rod of grace that short-circuits God’s wrath to Christ so that only the light of His love remains for believers.

Amen the scripture you wrote came to my mind before I even

One of my favourite metaphors to describe Christians is a snowflake. Snowflakes do not produce light, but when light shines upon them they sparkle. No two snowflakes are like just as each Christian is different from the other- but when snowflakes gather together they form a blanket of snow that covers everything–just as Christians united blanket the world with God’s love. Snowflakes fall gently, but put a little wind into the mix- they are fierce– and put a little wind of the Holy Spirit in Christians, they too can be a force to be reckon with. So my fellow snowflakes may the Light shine on you and may the Wind make you bold– have a great day.
Beautiful, Donna! God bless you!

That image came to me a long time ago while I was praying, I have always thought of it as being from the Holy Spirit– so to see the image spread beyond me, just confirms what I suspected— — it is all for His Glory- whoever it is meant to see it will see it. Amen

Men see not the bright light which is in the clouds. Job 37:21
From Streams in the Desert, 1, by Cowan, May 15, pp. 159-60:
“The world owes much of its beauty to cloudland. The unchanging blue of the Italian sky hardly compensates for the changefulness and glory of the clouds. Earth would become a wilderness apart from their ministry. There are clouds in human life, shadowing, refreshing, and sometimes draping it in blackness of night; but there is never a cloud without its bright light. ‘I do set my bow in the cloud!’
“If we could see the clouds from the other side where they lie in billowy glory, bathed in the light they intercept, like heaped ranges of Alps, we should be amazed at their splendid magnificence.
“We look at their underside; but who shall describe the bright light that bathes their summits and searches their valleys and is reflected from every pinnacle of their expanse? Is not every drop drinking in health-giving qualities, which it will carry to earth?
“O child of God! If you could see your sorrows and troubles from the other side; if instead of looking up at them from earth, you would look down on them from the heavenly places where you sit with Christ; if you knew how they are reflecting in prismatic beauty before the gaze of heaven, the bright light of Christ’s face, you would be content that they should cast their deep shadows over the mountain slopes of existence. Only remember that clouds are always moving and passing before God’s cleansing wind.”
“I cannot know why suddenly the storm
Should rage so fiercely round me in its wrath:
But this I know–God watches all my path,
And I can trust.
I may not draw aside the mystic veil
That hides the unknown future from my sight,
Nor know it for me waits the dark or light;
But I can trust.
I have no power to look across the tide,
To see while here the land beyond the river;
But this I know–I shall be God’s forever;
So I can trust.”
Thank you Beverlee and praying your pain is manageable today.
Enjoy the warmth of today…….Catherine
