But now bring me a musician.
PRAYER FOR TODAY:
Lord God, I sing unto You “a new song.” I pray for Your Holy Spirit to fill me with the refreshing water of life. You said, Lord Jesus, “If anyone is thirsty, let him come to Me and drink” (John 7:37). I’m doing that just now as I worship You. My spiritual thirst is being quenched. Thank You Jesus!
100 PERSONAL WORDS:
I’m blessed to support several missions projects. “Streams in the Desert” is one where, in the Turkana area of Northern Kenya, drought is cyclical. Crossroads, through people here in the west, you and me, is drilling wells, supplying electricity through solar cells to operate the pumps which are pouring water onto a dry, thirsty land. One thousand families are now beginning to benefit from this labour of love (Check out the project – click here).
Today, we’re celebrating mothers! I’ve been so very blessed by the music of the mother of my four children. In the first two churches I pastored, she played piano or organ Sunday a.m., Sunday p.m. and Wednesday night services, 1958 – 1964. Just yesterday I was reading my diary from January 2, 1963. Here’s some of what I read: “We measured the children and weighed them. Elaine, 3′ 5″ and 40 lbs – Ellen, 3′ and 30 lbs – Reynold 2′ 8” and 29 lbs. Norma-Jean is 3 and 1/2 months pregnant and weighs ??? (I’m being careful here). I love you, mother of my children. X0 X0! Ron arrived on May 29th, 1963, in the Deep River hospital. Ann, the mother of Ron’s three children, also gave birth to their daughter Andrea on May 29th, 1986. Ron and Ann will be in Oklahoma this May 29th, where Andrea, now married to Rev. Jason Patterson, is a PhD student and is a new mother herself.
Happy Mother’s Day to all you who have biological children and all women who celebrate the greatest motherhood of all and are spiritual mothers to children everywhere.
Yours because of “MOTHERS,”
David
P.S. Here’s a link I found on You Tube to a beautiful rendition of “Sing Unto the Lord” by a lovely couple. I believe they are from India (click here). You may have to endure an automobile commercial before the song, but it’s worth waiting for.
I echo David’s thoughts this morning in wishing all Mother’s everywhere, a very Happy Mother’s Day! My Mother is still with us at 94 and very precious to my heart. I’m still praying that she would accept the Lord as her Saviour …. where there’s life, it’s never too late.
A kind thank you to all who participated in offering up their thoughts on my comment yesterday. Have a Blessed Lord’s Day everyone!

I love you, Lord,
And I lift my voice,
To worship you,
Oh my soul, rejoice.
Take joy, my King,
In what you hear,
Let it be a sweet, sweet sound,
In your ear.
I love you, Lord,
And I lift my voice,
To worship you,
Oh my soul, rejoice.
Take joy, my King,
In what you hear.
Let it be a sweet, sweet sound,
In your ear.
I love you, Lord,
And I lift my voice,
To worship you.
Oh my soul, rejoice.
Take joy, my King,
In what you hear.
Let it be a sweet, sweet sound,
In your ear.
Let it be a sweet, sweet sound,
In your ear.

Happy Mother’s Day all mothers everywhere. You have a beautiful mother, David and wife. And I can say that about my mother who endured much hardship to bring up thirteen children. Enjoy this day of worship everyone. Today I am travelling to St. John for my heart test Monday and Tuesday. God bless everyone.
Hi Ger will be keeping you in my thoughts and prayers!!!
I’m with Colleen,
Ger you are in my thoughts and prayers.
Blessings to all 🙂
Thank you for that song, David. It blessed my heart and inspired worship of the Lord!!
I remember clearly when you (David) and World Vision came together at that time (in the 70s). I was working at World Vision on Commissioners Road in North York. You came in with the biggest smile I had ever seen! I really didn’t know who you were at that time as I worked daily and, I don’t think we had recording devices in our homes at that time – they came a little later! Now we can record things to watch later or view via computer at any time!
Dear Brother David, my heart is so much with you! I have had severe faith struggles but have begun to find answers in an encouraging book available on Amazon.ca called Great Faith for Great Miracles, by Peter Youngren. I just checked; it’s even offered free at the moment. The answer is our Jesus…
Hello David,
The song you directed us to was beautiful! It really lifted me on this Mother’s Day.
My mother died when I was two after the birth of my baby brother. But my wonderful Saviour sent me a beautiful daughter of our own on Mother’s Day 1968. Today she is a Christian Music Teacher and we have two beautiful twin grandsons as part of our celebration today.
every blessing to you, and your lovely family,
keep on blogging,
Marge
