Key Verse: Exodus 26:30

And you shall raise up the tabernacle according to its pattern which you were shown on the mountain.

The Tabernacle was the place in which God dwelt. We, the believers, are now His dwelling place. The Apostle Paul quotes the Hebrew Scriptures to drive home this point (2 Cor 6:16). God gave an exact design with precise measurements, using specific materials. For example, He gave such attention to detail in the instructions for making and hanging the curtains. The veil which separated the Holy of Holies from the rest of the Tabernacle shows us that we are separated from God. Remember that when Jesus died, the veil was torn from top to bottom so that there is no longer a separation for those that believe in Jesus. It is of vital importance that we follow God’s designs for our lives.

PRAYER FOR TODAY:

Dear Lord Jesus, please help me to be diligent to follow Your instructions for building my life. Thank You that I am Your modern day tabernacle. I need to know Your plans for me, and I thank You for the grace and discipline to read and follow the instructions most carefully. In Your Name I pray, Lord Jesus. Amen!

100 PERSONAL WORDS:

From the time our son Ron was 6 or 7, he was the designated instruction reader in our family when something arrived which needed assembling. Come to think of it, he is the first one to read my daily blogs too before they are posted for you, the reader. I’ve received much practical help from Ron and his wife Ann. You can watch them daily on TV. They are hosts of “100 Huntley Street.” One job that has often needed attention through the years is also my least favourite job…hanging curtains. You can ask Norma-Jean. I’m embarrased to tell you that I complain while I’m up on the step stool trying to get it right while Norma-Jean is giving the instructions. I’m even more embarrased to confess to you that I have often complained to God about His instructions for the details of my life. Sorry, Lord. I’ve asked Your forgivness in the past and I’ll no doubt have to do so in the future. Also, Norma-Jean, I’ve asked your forgivness in the past for complaining and if we move again and I’m able to get up on that step stool, I’ll probably have to ask your forgiveness again. I love you!

Yours for following the instructions,

David

  1. Many guys reading your blog today, regarding the instructions, are probably thinking … “thank God, I’m not the only one!”. As they say, when all else fails, read the instructions. We saw the outdoor display at Crossroads that appeared to replicate from the instructions beautifully! As well, we saw the Shroud of Turin presentation and display – amazing! The volunteers were very friendly and I encourage anyone able to visit and see the ministry facilities, to do so. You won’t be disappointed!!

  2. I always needed help when I moved into my apartment putting curtains up after they were washed and dried as well it does get fustrating at times but I am glad for the help.
Thank you Lord that we are not separated from you and we can pray openly . Amen

  4. Hi David, You are a sweetheart to hang curtains for Norma-Jean even though it is a real pain! Ha! Ha! l loved the prayer for today as it exactly reflects my desire especially in light of what happened to me yesterday. l have a new friend called Simitri who turns out to be a Hindu. l looked it up on google and read all about it but was horrified to read that some Hindus cannot understand Christianity because some believers seem to deny Christ with their lives!!!! O Lord help us to be strong in you so that we are not tripped up by the devil in front of a watching unsaved world.

  5. Lord, I humbly ask and pray that as we groan, complain, stumble and sometimes fall as we will all tend to do at one time or another … that you will be constantly there to catch us, as a loving father unto his children. Safe and sound in the security of your eternal grace and love. Amen
