WALK ON WATER

Today’s Reading: Matthew 14

A calm settles on the Sea of Galilee, just after a storm.

Key Verse: Matthew 14:31

And immediately Jesus stretched out His hand and caught him, and said to him, “O you of little faith, why did you doubt?”

Peter, the man of faith and doubt, boldness and fear, is one of us. His faith carried him out of the boat, but his doubt immediately brought big problems. Don’t be too hard on Peter. Those still in the boat were safe, but they missed a great experience with Jesus. On the walk back to the boat, I think Jesus held Peter, and Peter surely hung onto Jesus for dear life. Later Peter’s memory was greatly improved by the power of the Holy Spirit. The result?…faith and boldness marked his total life. Are you willing to sink and look like a big fool? Or are you just playing it safe?

PRAYER FOR TODAY:

Lord Jesus, I know You won’t let me down as I let go of the boat and start walking. Grant me the grace to attempt the humanly impossible. May I not be discouraged by the comments of those still in the boat. Amen!

100 PERSONAL WORDS:

There are several things that could’ve sunk the ministry of Crossroads. The money was not on hand to do some of the major initiatives we undertook (e.g. Pavilions in four World Expositions). In two of the Expos, we were sinking, but Jesus was there to catch us. He had said, as He did to Peter, “Come.” As leader, I had stepped out of the boat, and so did our Board of Directors, as did our fellow team members, and our supporting partners. In Spain alone (Expo ’92), at least 53,000 people registered decisions for Christ. The Archbishop of Seville said weeping, “My people, my people need this message.”

Yours for walking on water,

David

  1. Beautiful scene to paint. So like Jesus, the calm after the storm; the beauty in the picture that unfolds. Amen to David’s message: “Peter’s faith and boldness marked his total life. Are you willing to sink and look like a big fool? Or are you just playing it safe?” It’s up to us to stand in faith and step out of the boat to walk on water, that others may see the glory of God in us. Amen, saints? Thanks for your prayers today. His blessings upon you and for peace in the world.

“Don’t stay in the boat when God’s calling you to step out on the water.”

  2. Lord lead me to step.out of the boat. Lead me to speak the love of God and the sacrifice Jesus performed on the cross. Lead me in boldness vs a spectator in Jesus name amen.

  3. Amen Dale. I remember one particular Pavilion of Promise. I believe some heavy financial backers backed out – but Father God stepped up in His capacity of Provider! Praise God.

  4. Dear Lord, as we face the challenges of the day, help us to trust in You. You are more than able, so we commit our work, our families, our country, and this world to You. Help us to walk humbly with You, we ask in Jesus’s name, amen

  5. Thank you David and Beverlee to step out of the boat being bold and courageous. Was bold yesterday at church when I spoke to one of the speakers in response to his message that just being a spectator in church produces a lukewarm believer. Amen? Pray the Lord will be with you today Beverlee.

  6. Amen.I do not “Are you willing to sink and look like a big fool? ” I do not have to sink to look like a fool, lol. My friends have at times accused me of ‘acting a fool ‘ but I tell them ‘it’s no act’….I am suspicious of anyone who is always serious.
Our camp director poured his heart and soul into enabling the camp to open this summer but with the restrictions imposed by government it would not be safe to attempt opening this year.He seemed even more heartbroken than the rest of the council.I hung on until he and I were the only two left on zoom and told him he did everything he could do and thanked him.He was also concerned about the other potential employees. We may have been the last hold outs.He and I both felt the Lord was telling us to hold on in faith. Now we prepare for next year.’His ways are ‘far’ above our ways….’

    • I am not sure I understand your comment, Bill. I was quoting David Mainse; the end of the first paragraph in his message. I am not suspicious of anything he said. But I do always put quotes around things I repeat from others rather than paraphrase their ideas. I am certain his prayer today is what matters for all of us. His blessings upon you. Amen.

  7. Good morning fellow Saints and fellow bloggers I have a prayer request on June 8th I was tested for the covid-19 virus and they said it would take a week so it is now a week later so I’m asking for your prayers and I will keep you posted of the results so thank you once again I pray you all have a great day amen

    • Agreeing with Verna, Irene, Teresa and Blessed that you are free of the covid virus, Marilyn. His Hand be upon you and reassurance in your heart. God bless you, dear one.

  8. What a glorious photo Reynold, depicting the storm the disciples experienced before Jesus calmed the storm. Jesus calms the storms in our lived when we call out “help, Jesus!”
