EAT THE SCROLL

Today’s Reading: Ezekiel 1-3

The colours of a rainbow flooding the sky above Jerusalem. In today’s reading, Ezekiel describes what he saw before him and above him.

Key Verses: Ezekiel 1:28, 3:2

“Like the appearance of a rainbow in a cloud on a rainy day, so was the appearance of the brightness all around it. This was the appearance of the likeness of the glory of the Lord…So I opened my mouth, and He caused me to eat that scroll.”

God called His prophets to be “Watchmen.” Jeremiah, Ezekiel and others sounded the warning that if God’s people refused to listen, the responsibility for their downfall was their own; but if the prophet failed to sound the warning, every lost life was on his account. The word “rebellious” is repeated eight times in these chapters, the word “impudent,” which means “not ashamed,” is used twice. The people were not ashamed of their rebellion against the clearly stated Word of God! Other words to describe God’s people are “stubborn” and “hard-hearted.” Nevertheless, we should be encouraged because God is communicating in a variety of ways. Our Father in Heaven has not left us as orphans. His Apostles, Prophets, Pastors/Teachers, and Evangelists have spoken to us God’s message (read Ephesians 4:11-16).

Maybe the “wheel within a wheel” resembles the reports of some people on what they call “flying saucers.” What Ezekiel saw in his vision were probably the great archangels of God. Just remember, Satan is an archangel who can appear as an “angel of light” in order to deceive people. Let’s stick with the message of the Bible prophets, the Apostles, and most of all Jesus, Himself. That way we won’t be deceived. There are major false religions in the world today which were started by the appearance of an “angel” to so-called prophets. I’m thinking of Islam and Mormonism (read 2 Corinthians 11:12-15).

PRAYER FOR TODAY:

Lord God, I pray that by Your mercy and grace in my life I will be teachable and not rebellious, impudent, stubborn, and hard-hearted! May I “eat” Your Word daily, making it my nourishment, part of my very being. In Jesus’ Name I pray. Amen!!!

100 PERSONAL WORDS:

True Bible prophets have made predictions, many of which have already come to pass. Some of the best examples of this are Psalm 22, 1,000 years before Christ, and Isaiah 7:14, 9:6, and 53, 600-700 years before Christ.

Global warming is a deep concern for many. I am taking a wait-and-see approach to the predictions of imminent destruction of the world by the melting of the ice-caps. The prophet Moses gave us God’s promise, confirmed by a rainbow, that the earth would never again be destroyed by a flood. I just read a news item from Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. A retired officer who served on icebreakers in the 70s and 80s said in 2014, “This year’s ice conditions have not been seen for 40 years. The ice cover in the Arctic is returning and getting thicker.” Recently David Philips, senior climatologist for Environment Canada, is quoted as saying, “In some way, we were suggesting that it would be colder, but not this intensely cold. It is unlike anything we’ve seen for a couple of decades.” Nevertheless, Norma-Jean and I are doing what we can to reduce our “carbon footprints.”

I’m extremely thankful for what the Apostle Peter calls “The more sure Word of Prophecy.” Those predictions are totally reliable (2 Peter 1:18-20).

Yours for holding onto the One who holds the future,

David

P.S. One Saturday evening I went over to the Hamilton Harbour and took this picture of the ice melting along the shore. When I came back to our apartment, I found online a 2014 satellite picture of the ice on the Great Lakes, which reached 88% coverage…a level not reached since 1994. Some predict a catastrophic flood for costal cities. As I said, I’m an agnostic on this. However, I do believe that there are constant small changes in the Climate. Temperatures have been up and down for a very long time. For all you northerners, KEEP WARM!

  1. Such profound prophecy and photos. Lord God, we call on Your Holy Presence, to fill all hearts, today. In Jesus’ Mighty Name. Amen, amen, and amen. Blessings fellow saints.

“The only way to the Father, Father God, is through His Son, Jesus Christ. Now, why Jesus? He’s the only one that was born in this world, without sin. But more than that, he was the righteous one and when you come to him you are clothed in his righteousness. God no longer sees your sin. He no longer sees your own heart. He sees Jesus.” Billy Graham

God bless you always. I am a visual person so at first I tried to imagine what the
pictures were, and could not. Someone once said they were symbols of something
or someone. All through the passages were not easy to understand maybe
God did not want me to. Have a good day my fellow bloggers .

My heartfelt sympathy to you and your family, Trynie, in having suddenly lost your husband. May God comfort you with His loving arms and may peace be still in your heart, knowing your husband has returned home to the Kingdom with Jesus. Oh, to see His sweet face! God bless you, Trynie.

Billy Graham’s Last Message to America & the World

As I look back over my life, it’s full of surprises. I never thought I would become friends with people in different countries from all over the world.

Young Billy Graham preaching in background: For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son. I want us to look at the cross tonight.

I see how God’s hand guided me.

    Love one another.

When I began preaching many years ago, it was not with any thoughts that I’d be preaching to large audiences.

Come to the cross. His gospel is for everyone.

    God has done this.

Christ is alive. In modern America today, there is a vacuum of the soul.
Our country’s in great need of a spiritual awakening.

Come to the cross and repent.

For there have been times that I’ve wept as I’ve gone from city to city and I’ve seen how far, people have wandered from God. Of all the things that I’ve seen and heard, there’s only one message that can change people’s lives and hearts.

There is a way if you come by the way of the cross…. the cross…. the cross.

I want to tell people about the meaning of the cross. Not the cross that hangs on the wall, or around someone’s neck.

We receive our freedom purchased by the ransom at the cross.

But the real cross of Christ.

The cross expresses the great love of God for us.

The scarred and blood stained—His was a rugged cross.

His real purpose for coming, was to die…. to die…. to die…. to die…. to die…. to die…. to die….

I know that many will react to this message, but it is the truth, and with all my heart, I want to leave you, with the truth.

God says: I love you, I love you, I love you, with an everlasting love.
He loves you—willing to forgive you of all your sins.

The cross is offensive because it confronts people. Even so, it’s a confrontation that all of us must face.

I look out across an audience and I stand there to preach, and I think of all the people with their different backgrounds, and their various needs, and I know that they are objects, of God’s mighty love.

To the point that he gave his son, his only son, to die up on a cross. And the cross was the most terrible form of execution by the Romans for criminals. And Jesus endured all that, in our place. Because of our sins, we deserve the cross. We deserve hell. We deserve judgement, and all that that means.

I know that, that many people dispute that. People don’t want to hear that they are sinners. To many people, it’s an offense. The cross is offensive because it directly confronts the evils which dominate so much of this world.

One reason that the cross is an offense to people is because it demands. It doesn’t suggest—it demands—a new life style—in all of us.

Sin, is a disease, in the human heart. It affects the mind, and the will, and the emotions. Every part of our being is affected by this disease. How can we break this bondage? How can we be set free?

God helps us break those chains. The Bible says—if any man be in Christ—he is a new creature. Old things pass away. Everything becomes new. He can make you, a totally new person.

On that cross, God was laying on Jesus, our sins. They not only put nails in His hands, but before that, they had scourged Him. A Roman scourge, was a terrible thing. They took whips, and pellets on those whips, and beat a person, almost to death.

And then they took that cross, and made Him carry the cross, which was, in His weakened condition, was almost impossible.

But He carried that cross to a place, outside of Jerusalem. And then they put nails in His hands. But that was not the real suffering. The real suffering was when He said, “My God, why has thou forsaken me?” In that terrible moment, He and God, the Father, were separated.

He shed His blood, and the shedding of that blood, carries with it, God’s very life. There is no other way of salvation, except through the cross of Christ.
Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No man cometh to the Father but by Me.” The only way to the Father, Father God, is through His Son, Jesus Christ.

Now, why Jesus? He’s the only one that was born in this world, without sin. But more than that, He was the righteous One, and when you come to Him, you are clothed in His righteousness. God no longer sees your sin. He no longer sees your own heart. He sees Jesus.

When you come to Christ, you come from the way of repentance. Repent means to change—to change your way of living, and turn from your sins, and turn to Jesus Christ, and say—“I’m a sinner, I need forgiveness. And I know that you’re the only One that can change me.”

Today, I’m asking you, to put your trust in Christ. I’m going to ask you to pray this prayer, sentence by sentence, after me:

Dear Heavenly Father, I know that I’m a sinner. And I ask for Your forgiveness. I believe You’ve died for my sins and rose from the dead. I turn from my sins. I repent of my sins. I invite You to come into my heart and life. I want to trust and follow You—as my Lord and Saviour. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.

He’s ALIVE! I’ve given my life, not to a dead Christ, but to a LIVING Christ! And He’s given me a song to sing. He’s given me a flag to follow. I have reason for existence. I know where I’ve come from. I know why I’m here. I know where I’m going. Do you… do you… do you?

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16
