SINNERS WELCOME

Today’s Reading: Mark 2

Click scripture link to read online or HERE to listen online (then click the symbol of the audio speaker above the scripture portion on the right-hand side).

Ruins from Capernaum. In the background you can see a church that is built over what is thought to be the home of Peter.

Key Verse: Mark 2:15

Now it happened, as He was dining in Levi’s house, that many tax collectors and sinners also sat together with Jesus and His disciples; for there were many, and they followed Him.

SINNERS WELCOME!…this could be the sign in front of Jesus’ Church. Four men (could’ve been Peter, Andrew, James and John) brought their paralized friend to Jesus. When Jesus saw their faith (the four looking down through the hole in the roof), He said to the man on the mat, “Son, your sins are forgiven you.” The four could be named, Compassion, Co-operation, Confidence & Courage. Ask yourself, “Do I have three friends with whom I could work to bring someone to Jesus today?”

Does Mark 2:13-17 sound like a Church supper in your Church? If not, should it? Jesus spent almost all His ministry time with sinners and with the outcasts of society. Let’s be unconscious of class, uncaring of economic success, and colourblind. Jesus is an equal opportunity Saviour.

PRAYER FOR TODAY:

Dear Jesus, thank You for the time I first heard You speak to me through Your Word and say, “Son (or daughter) your sins are forgiven.” Thank You for coming to my place and meeting me there, and meeting others there too. Help me to throw a party, the purpose of which is to introduce You, Jesus, as my Guest of honour! Amen!

100 PERSONAL WORDS:

Jesus did the most important miracle first. He forgave the sins of the paralized man. Secondly, Jesus healed him. That first and greatest miracle happened to me when I was 16. I took Jesus at His Word when He said, “The one who comes to me I will by no means cast out” (John 6:37). Later, when I was 19, I also experienced a miracle of healing. I had such a high fever that the doctors said I would likely die, or at the very least be a mental case for life. Well, I didn’t die, so now you’ve guessed which prediction happened to me…..Here I am!!! It’s now 5:40 a.m. That’s crazy isn’t it? I enjoy every minute of these early mornings. Try it, you’ll like it. Of course my blog is not posted ’til 6:00 a.m.

Yours for two years of early mornings,

David

P.S. This Sunday evening at 6 p.m. I will be leading another of my summer healing services in the chapel at the Crossroads Centre in Burlington. It’s my way of saying thanks for all who have prayed for my recent healing and, most of all, saying thanks to God!!! Here’s a link to information.

  1. Good morning faithful followers of Christ and this wonderful blog. Unfortunately this blog did not find it’s way into my email box today. I had to go to 100words.ca to get today’s scripture reading…

I agree with Christ and David Mainse. Are you the same person when you meet people of different levels in society? I’m a firm believer in “what you see is what you get”.

May the Holy Spirit of God guide us today… in Jesus name – Amen!

  2. “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” I remember years ago being told about Christ’s forgiveness, that our sins are forgiven us, “as far as the east is from the west.” No, we are not perfect, just forgiven. We have acknowledged our shortcomings, corrected our course, pray and remind ourselves daily, WWJD. His blessings and strength to all bloggers!

  3. Great Prayer for Today. Thanks and amen.
Good sense of humour Rev. DM. Hope you’re not crazy ’cause I’m up at 6:00 every morning to read your blog:-)
    Blessings on your healing services.
Does Mark 1, 2 etc. mean that Mark is telling these stories?
    God bless fellow bloggers.

  4. Amen, David. I am gathering family together tomorrow as I believe it is important to keep family together(my mother would have if she were living) and they need the Lord. The enemy and busy living can draw us apart. God bless you David, family and 100 Huntley Street for all you are doing to keep Jesus front and center.

  5. David, I have been a member of 100 Huntley Street since the late 70’s. I am so happy to see your blog – I only work at the church on Thursdays and Fridays and do not have the internet at home – so I get caught up at the end of the week – I am so thankful to God for your ministry to me over the years – I also was very thankful to go to Israel with you and Norma Jean I think it was 2008 – Thanking God for your healing – you were and are still in my prayers
    Love in Christ Vivian

  6. Dear Rev. David M.
