REMEMBER

Suggested Reading: Psalms 145-146

In the Jordan Valley, King Herod built one of his palaces on the top of a mountain known as Masada, as it was the most defensible location in his domain. Herod was the most insecure of kings. He built several such fortress palaces. The Kingdom of the King of Kings is everlasting and His dominion endures throughout all generations and forever!

Key Verses: Psalms 145:3,13

Great is the Lord and greatly to be praised!…Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom and Your dominion endures throughout all generations.

Psalm 145 is another acrostic poem in the Hebrew language. It serves as an introduction to the final five hymns of praise and worship! The theme is in verse five. David extols, blesses, meditates, declares, speaks, and tells us all that every day he will make known with his mouth the praises of the Lord! Praising God not only involves private and public worship but let us never forget that it means telling others in the world around us, particularly teaching the next generation all about God and His mighty deeds!

In Psalm 146 the great king, David, makes a declaration. We are to praise the greatest King, the One Who is King of kings! David states that as long as he lives he will practice what he preaches to us. He ends the Psalm with another, “PRAISE THE LORD!!!”

PRAYER FOR TODAY:

Lord God, I know that You alone are the One in whom I can put total, ultimate trust. Therefore, I trust the One Who did as Psalm 146 says, “Opens the eyes of the blind,” “Raises those who are bowed down and loves the righteous” (remember He gives us His righteousness by faith), “Watches over the strangers,” “Relieves the fatherless and widow,” and “Turns upside down” (the wicked). In the Name of this One, the One Whose Name is Jesus, I pray. Amen!!!

100 PERSONAL WORDS:

This day here in Canada is called “Remembrance Day.” I am remembering those who gave their lives to secure our peace and freedoms in this land. I think that I can best honour these who fell in battle by focusing on the death of the Lord Jesus Christ in the greatest war of all…the war against sin, death itself, the devil and his forces of evil. The other day I attended a Remembrance function. I sat at a table with a mother and father who had lost a son in the Afganistan war. Their son had a premonition of his death and made a videotape for his parents, a portion of which we hope to play on today’s 100 Huntley Street telecast. I’ve been invited to participate on air today. I ask for the prayers of my fellow bloggers. Thanks! O yes, I’ve just read again Psalm 146:5a. In yesterday’s reading there were two uses of the word, “Happy.” Here’s the third “Happy.” I slept last night in my “Happy, Happy, Happy” T-shirt pictured in yesterday’s blog. I am a happy person! Praise the Lord!!!

Yours for remembering to remember, not just once a year but daily!

David

P.S. There was a wedding yesterday afternoon in the Towne Square at the Crossroads Centre in Burlington. The number of guests were too many for the Chapel. Rev. Ray David Glenn, minister of St. Georges Anglican Network Church, a congregation that meets every Sunday in the Crossroads Centre, performed the marriage ceremony. Ray David’s precious former wife, the late Rhonda Glenn, was my co-host for several years on the 100 Huntley Street telecast. If blog readers have never visited the home of the Crossroads Family of Ministries, please do so and ask for a tour by my son Ron or a wonderful man by the name of Chuck! Call the Centre at 905-335-7100 to visit. Breakfast and lunch are served Mondays through Fridays.

A wedding that took place yesterday afternoon in the Towne Square at the Crossroads Centre in Burlington. Many weddings and receptions have been held here. I've performed a few of these weddings. I love participating in the lives of younger generations!

  1. As we remember the soldiers who fought for peace , we silently think of the wars that have brought peace to our land like our national anthem says God keep our land glorious and free ohCanada we stand on guard for thee , ee pray for peace for the next generation and help us listen forGod s voice to use us to bring His peace today
God bless all and God grant you peace in Jesus Name Amen

  2. Lest we forget. Yes, let us not forget to remember daily the sacrifice of those who fought and died for our freedom and we also remember daily the One who paid the Ultimate Sacrifice for our Salvation. Praise the Lord!!!!

What a beautiful, crisp, sunny morning!!!! Have a blessed day today blog-buddies!!

  3. Praise the Lord for this day. Remembering those who served and died for our freedom, including my Uncle Stanley Ellis. Will be watching 100 Huntley Street this morning, David. So sad Psalms is almost at an end but it has been great to learn so much about these precious books of the Bible. Praise the Lord, praise the Lord, all ye saints. Wishing everyone a blessed day!

  4. There has been no greater sacrifice than that of Jesus as He suffered the punishment of our sins, that our salvation might be won at Calvary’s cross. Jesus modeled for us a righteous and just path to walk as we journey through this life. As such, we know there can be no greater sacrifice by humankind than the giving of oneself to a higher purpose, to know that one may die, that others might have life. Every year at this time I think on my Great Uncle Oswald who I never knew, but would have been honoured to have known. As a teenager, he left his home and all he knew for a foreign land that he might fight for the freedoms that each of us now have and cherish. He and many others like him never returned home. On this day ….”WE SHALL REMEMBER THEM”

  5. Lest we forget! Yes let us all remember the sacrifice of those who fought for our freedom, but may we never ever forget the gift God gave us through The Saviour JESUS as He gave His ALL that we might have FREEDOM, and everlasting life with HIM.

Looking forward to seeing you on Huntley St. Today Pastor David and praying Rob Ford will be in touch with you.

    Blessings HAPPY saints!

  6. Remembering those who fought for our freedom. Thankful to our surviving veterans sharing their experiences with us today. 8. “When across the heart deep waves of sorrow
    Break, as on a dry and barren shore;
When hope glistens with no bright tomorrow,
    And the storm seems sweeping evermore;

When the cup of every earthly gladness
    Bears no taste of the life-giving stream;
And high hopes, as though to mock our sadness,
Fade and die as in some fitful dream,

Who shall hush the weary spirit’s chiding?
Who the aching void within shall fill?
Who shall whisper of a peace abiding,
And each surging billow calmly still?

Only He whose wounded heart was broken
    With the bitter cross and thorny crown;
Whose dear love glad words of joy had spoken,
Who His life for us laid meekly down.

    Blessed Healer, all our burdens lighten;
Give us peace. Thine own sweet peace, we pray!
Keep us near Thee till the morn shall brighten,
And all the mists and shadows flee away!”

  9. Thank you Jesus for winning the battle for our souls. Thanks to everyone who has served or is serving in the armed forces, with God’s help, keeping us safe. As l meditate on the many who have fallen, my heart goes out to the mums and dads, wives and children who have suffered such a loss in their own families. May our precious Lord grant them peace, and may they feel the great gratitude we all have for their personal sacrifice, and with pride continue to cherish the memory of their loved ones on this Remembrance Day God Bless You All!.

  10. Yes, today we can thank our wonderful veterans for the freedom we now enjoy. My grandfather was torpedoed on a ship called the SS Baccalieu.. My dad, his son served as well. To all who gave their lives we remember today.
Will be watching Huntley Street and praying for our dear David Mainse today as well.
Be blessed today in the LORD everyone!

  11. Rely on God
    Embrace His wondrous ways
Make an effort to stay aware
    Enter into humanity’s pain
    Move a mountain
    Believe beyond your doubts
    Envy no one
Return what has been given to you to God with thanks and praise.

  12. Amen Scott, Christine and all fellow bloggers.

    The greater purpose…
Over the years these brave young men and women defend their families,
their country, all which is important to them.
Remembering my grandfather on this day and others who have lost their lives.

Thank you Lord for this daily blog Mr. Mainse presents to us each morning. Blessings to all.

    Diane 🙂

  13. And thank you Ron, Ann and Reynold for your part in presenting to us this daily blog.

Reynold, I hope you don’t mind,

  14. Yes, the Lord Jesus fought the greatest battle and that for our souls and won; and we must remember those and their families who gave their lives for our freedom. Am saying’ “Bravo” to you today, David and Praise God. May the Lord give all of you a safe journey to Israel. The Lord bless you fellow bloggers.

  15. Praise the lord. Bless the lord. Lord there is none like you. Your love is so deep so wide so vast you encompas all. Lord preserve our hearts and minds that we may feel other peoples pain, that we may show compassion towards those who
mourn the loss of their loved ones this remembrance day as we remember.

When I was in grade school I remember that for me remembrance day was an
emotional day. We would all line up and in single file make our way to the auditorium for the assembly. Tears would stream down my face as I listened to the heart felt stories and names read of the brave fallen men who died so we could live a life free from tyrraney.

Last week I saw on the news that a few people want to change the traditional poppey from red to white. Hay that’s fine for them but don’t take away the red poppey that these surviving vets have respected as the iconic symble of remembrance. This issue has hurt the hearts of these surveing elderly men and woman / war time heros. I believe it is spiritual wickedness that dwells in such insensative and selfish hearts.

This to me is just one more sign that Jesus is coming for his church very soon.
It brings to mind what Jesus said that in the last days peoples hearts would wax cold towards one another. Some of these vets are in their 90’s and even entering
their 100th year. To even sujested changing the colour of the poppey to me is pointless and cold hearted.where is the respect?
Lord please answer the prayers of these vets , please preserve the red poppy .

Lord in these end days we need your protection.
Lord I pray for a hedge of protection around all of our hearts. That none of the hearts of those who are called to your purpose will ever wax cold. Amen!

Jerry and I are looking foreword to this evenings live telecast of 100 Huntley.
Our prayers are with you David .
I pray all of these prayers will be answered in Jesus name. Amen!
    Blessing to all.
    M.

  16. A day of great thanks to all who paid the price of death to ensure our present day freedoms! No words to describe their sacrifices. Sat next to a lady today at the Chateau who said that her brother lied about his age in order to sign up for war. He lost hie life in the war. Said he was 18 but was only 14! Tears shed. One story of many, shared across this blessed land of ours today.
Welcome back Scott, I don’t know you, but certainly you have made an impact on everybody. Please continue to hang out with us, as we are all having so much fun!
Hoping that everyone who is heading out to the Holy Land will take the rest of us, in their hearts, so that we at home can experience the joy, joy, joy, too!
Thank you Pastor David for setting forth such a beautiful example of reaching out to someone in great despair. Mayor Ford will be blessed. Your example moved my heart. We must jump out of our own boxes, to do Jesus’s work, to pick up the broken. 100 words is changing all of us! Amen! And thank you, my new found family in Christ!
I am enjoying a new discovered song by Lacey Sturm called Mercy Tree. I don’t know how to post it. It describes Our Saviours Love. The video is on utube. Hugs and hugs to all! To Jesus, only Jesus! We love you!

  17. Dear Rev David Mainse
Just watched one more time your passage on 100 Huntley Street this morning. You really once more hit the nail on the head when it comes to our disobedience and the sadness that our Heavenly Father must feel when it comes to our misconduct and our turning away from him. So more than ever let us turn our eyes to the One and Only who is able to intercede for us to the Father, thank you Jesus for giving us your shed blood to pay that price that we could not pay. We will keep praying for Mayor Ford.

Thank you to my fellow bloggers for your encouragement and best wishes for my baptism yesterday. It was an incredible, unforgettable day, surrounded by my sisters and brothers in Christ of Fairview Alliance Church and having the presence of my daughter, my sister, my dear husband and wonderful caregivers and some very good friends in attendance. The attached picture will show you a small part of my experience.
PS: This type of baptism may have been a first for our church and I closed my eyes imagining that I was been baptized in the Jordon River. God is so good. Praise the Lord for His mercies.

  18. Thank you David M. for your example and sensitivity to pray for Mayor Ford. It is often in our desparateness that we allow God to intervene. “O God, may your Holy Spirit reach into the heart of Mayor Rob Ford – even as David extended the age old invitation of a loving God ‘to come unto ME'”. “O Lord, burden our hearts of others. Help us pray and extend the love of God in word and deed – so ‘they will know that we are Christians.. by our love…by our love.'” Samuel

  19. In Memory of my deceased father-in-law who enlisted, fought, was wounded in WWI ..and suffered emotional and physical pain throughout his life – before passing away in 1971. He was around 17 when he enlisted. In his honour I quote, “In Flanders Field”:

“In Flanders Fields the poppies blow – betwwen the crosses row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky, the larks still bravely singing fly,
Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the dead: Short days ago, we lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved: and now we lie in Flanders Fields!

Take up our quarrel with the foe. To you, from failing hands, we throw The Torch: be yours to hold it high; if you break faith with us who die,
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow in Flanders Field”
    by Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae.

  20. Thank you Pastor David Mainse for your reaching out with boldness to Rob Ford. Your prayer for him was powerful and I pray his heart received it.

God continue to bless you and strengthen you in Jesus Name I pray! Amen!

Be refreshed as you travel to Israel with Norma-Jean and Ron and Anne

    Irene
